I have a Amora Gem OEC (G/H). Nobody asks me if it is real, but I think the excellent (and less common) cut helps. Plus, nobody in my work knows about gems or really cares. My only issue with some of the C&C Moissy is that they are hit and miss in cut. Cut is what is key. So, if you really want a C&C, go with Shubacher who hand-select (and reject) C&C they don’t personally like. Since C&C lost their patent on Moissay, the market is exploding. Neo Moissanite and SUPERNOVA are two moissy that are really good (you can check these out from JHollywoodDesigns). She has all kinds of moissy plus Amora Gems and is honest about which ones have which benefits and flaws.  You might check her out (she’s super nice too!). Amora Gem are hard to obtain, but not impossible for dealers or if you are willing to stalk BTD’s site for the new ones. Nevertheless, I’m a huge fan of old cuts, so lean to OEC and cushions. BTD is not cutting OEC or the new August Vintage yet, but Jen Hollywood and other dealers may have contact to find one.

Someone mentioned metal color. To some extent all stones pickup some color from the setting, but they mostly react to ambient light through the top (gemstone colors can are more influenced by the setting, depending on the cut and stone). But, the we humans can observe contrast in colors easily. So, if you have a J/K/L color stone in platinum or white gold, the contrast between the white metal and warm body color can be detected by the eye. Put that same stone in yellow or rose gold, and the contrast goes away. If you have a very whilte (E+) color stone in a warm metal, you will see the contrast, although this is more ‘desirable’ to some. So, often jewellers will put diamonds with more apparent yellow or brown body color in yellow or rose gold to mask that contrast. It is up to your eye. I recently saw a O/P OEC diamond in a yellow gold setting and it was stunning.

I have an 8×6 emerald cut and I love it. No one has ever questioned if it was “real” and I don’t think anyone cares. I am very happy with it and would purchase it again. I have a number of moissy stones — mostly in earrings — and my emerald cut ring is by far my favorite.
