So, we’re looking at oval yellow sapphires (eek!) however, in our rural little area there aren’t many oval (anything) options around to try on. Also, when we do go look, I’m usually just so caught up with how beautiful everything is that I forget to look at the things that I would like to tweak (like size!). We’ve pretty much decided to order a stone online and set it locally. No matter what kind of oval stone you have, I would really appreciate if you would post a picture, ring size, and either carat (I know they aren’t the same stone to stone, but it’ll help me get a general idea) or mm size (if you know it) – if your uncomfortable posting size, I completely understand, and I would appreciate private messages as well.

I have been drooling over this one on etsy! Its 1 carat, yellow sapphire, oval. IDK what size ring the person is that is wearing it though. But it does say the ring is a size 6.

@NurseMarriedToAFarmer: I’m afraid I have a round cut diamond so I’m not a whole lot of use to you, butttt…..
Pricescope to the rescue!
ETA: I think these are mostly diamonds, I skipped over the part where you were looking for an oval sapphire, not a diamond. But they may still be a little help just to see what the different size ovals look like.

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: hahaha sure, totally! she’s got some really pretty 1.2mm diamond eternity bands that i’d like to have too as a spacer for my wedding band and e-ring while you’re at it (i should be working but i’m totally now distracted by shiny pretty finger ornaments)

Mines a Blue sapphire oval cut… Not too sure on the size of stone but i know the diamond ct. was .32 for reference my finger size is an 8. 🙂 Hope this helps, i really like my oval, its different which i love.
With intended wedding ring, still being made at the jewlers. Thats the only thing i found hard about having an oval because my ring does not have space for a wedding band to fit under it we needed to have a band custom made so I did not have the ‘gap’ look between bands. Just a personal preference not to have a gap. (the photo below is just the rings, not sized yet, the sapphire band will have 2 stones removed and shaped to fit the oval of my Engagement Ring. Happy shopping!!

@Sweet.Sugar.Rose: I’ve been oogling over that ring for a long time as well! It’s thee perfect shade of yellow (makes my heart smile!)
@littlegraykitten: Ahh, pricescope (= I’m so tech-diculous that unless someone sends me a link, for the life of me I can not figure that site out. No worries about the diamonds, I asked for them too (if I know ct. I can usually estimate the mm) Awesome links!
@MrsHoneyC: b-e-a-utiful sapphire!
thank you ladies!

Here’s my oval blue sapphire! My finger is a size 7.5, and I believe the sapphire is around 1ct 🙂

I have an oval! Just over a carat, size 6.5 finger.

@KristenGotMarried: Your ring is so pretty, and it looks significantly larger than a carat. Is that common in ovals?

Thank you! I’m quite fond of it myself 😉
To be honest, I have tiny hands. Like, circus carny-type hands. BUT the oval cut does have a pretty large table (the part that faces up on the diamond, the surface). You can find ovals that are even more elongated than mine as well, making them look longer.
I have a couple friends who have one carats in different shapes and I have to admit, I still think my oval looks bigger. I just love ovals… I get tons of compliments on it too.
