zeus:  That setting is amazing! It shows off the entire pearl. How brilliant!

I have a new pearl wedding band. It should come in the mail any day now.

Ukulele4You:  Thank you! I find it to be unique yet understated.

I saw your new pearl band pop up on an earlier thread and thought it to be gorgeous! I hope you will post pics when it arrives 🙂

Beedoglady:  I also love pearls and would have loved them in an engagement ring too. But for one they’re very soft and for another are very porous. There are some beautiful antique pearl rings as you’ve mentioned. But they wouldn’t have been worn daily. Pearls absorb anything they come into contact with. Acid from eating vinaigrette, soap from washing your hands and perfume will all rode the lustre. The ladies in the antique shop said to never buy pearls with the intention to wear them daily. I have a pearl necklace instead. I’d like a ring in the future but it will be for occasional use only. There’s a reason diamonds are used so often in rings. I got an antique diamond instead as they won’t be blood diamonds. A sapphire is an excellent choice!

Here are a few pics of my pearl ring. I got it as a 21st bday present from my parents and wear it as a right hand ring nearly every day. I’ve had it for over a year. I take it off to put on lotion and if I’m going to do something especially rigorous or gross with my hands but I’m a student and work in retail and I haven’t had any problems with it yet!
