I’m assuming that most of you are aware of the budget that Gov. Corbett has created and the massive cuts he wants to make to education. I’ve had so many teacher friends tell me that they’re districts are talking teacher layoffs, which means bigger class sizes for your children or future children. Also, if schools have less funding, think of the programs that will be cut. I urge you to call to vote on the budget.
Please call 1-866-346-7655 to vote on Gov. Corbett’s budget. Support education and press 4# to strongly disapprove of this budget.
Please, please, please EVERYONE (parents, teachers, public) call – it’s automated and takes approx. 10 seconds

Fiance is a teacher and he already has so many kids in his class that if they were all to actually show up without absences, there wouldn’t be enough desks in his room. They wouldn’t even FIT enough desks if they took them from another room. And that’s just the beginning. We need MORE teachers, not fewer. Also, he’s proposing merit-pay. I understand and agree with it IN THEORY, but in education, it’s not practical. It’s so difficult to measure and teachers end up teaching to the test (well, they do already, too, because of No Child Left Behind), so the kids are learning how to take that standardized test, not actual critical thinking or working knowledge. Everyone suffers.
However, the hotline has a vote about nuclear power, not education. 🙁
