5 foot nothing here! I went wih an A line as I loved how it was fitted at the waist to give me shape but then the long flowing skirt gives the illusion of height. I also tried on some lovely fit and flaires that looks great too. I found mermaids cut me off at the wrong point and if they had been hemmed to the correct length would have emphasises my short little legs! Ballgowns also didnt look bad, just not really for me. I did end up wearing 3.5 inch heels on the day too.

Another 5’0 bee.  I’ll be wearing 3 inch heels.  Go for any style you want!  I was initially stuck on ballgowns but they didn’t look good on me (not saying they wouldn’t look great on you, though).  I fell in love with my Mori Lee fit and flare 🙂

annelise210516:  I’m not sure if I’ve complimented your dress before but it is drowning in wow factor. Such an original! You show that a very slim petite woman can wear a big skirt and look great.

Splodge2003:  The shape of your dress is lovely- like a dropped waist ballgown. I think it’s a perfect cut for a shorter bride. Love the fact you wore colour and made your own bridal style.

letsdothis2016:  Such a fan of your dress. One of the best skirts I’ve seen. I still wish I could have tried it on.

This is my first fitting, pre- alterations to bring the waist in a bit. I’m 5’2 and a half and was 130lbs when I got married, more like 138 in this photo. I wish I’d lost more! I wore this with gigantic 5 inch heels with a platform sole. I didn’t really consider my height when I looked for a dress. I was looking more at my body shape as that’s what usually causes problems with clothes for me. I felt I could make up any, er, ‘shortcomings’ in heel height! Actually I think ballgowns are really, really good on shorter brides but at 40 I felt a bit old for one, so didn’t really try any on. I love fourfrenchfries dress at the top of this thread.  Just choose a style that you like. There are no hard and fast rules about what shorter brides can wear.

I’m 5’1″ and wore probably 2-3 inch heels. And a floor-length dress with a layered skirt. I was orginally planning to get a tea-length dress too, but I loved my ridiculous long poofy dress so much, I’m happy I didn’t.

another 5’1″ here! I tried on all fitted dresses, but they actually made me look shorter! My mom begged me to try on a ball gown and well, here it is!

nycoleman:  As PP’s have beautifully demonstrated, petites brides can wear any style! Just try on a whole bunch of styles and go with whatever makes you feel most beautiful.

Before I had tried any dresses, I was convinced I’d choose a fuller ballgown style or a sheath with a low back. But once I tried on a mermaid silhouette, I knew that was the one! Here’s my dress 🙂

Edit: I should probably mention that I’m 5’2″ and wore 4″ heels.

leonatigra:  If I was going with a mermaid (and it was a hard decision, trust me) this is what I would have gone for!  Wow!!
