We planned our wedding in less than a month! We had it at my mom’s cabin, and the flowers, decorations, food, and cake were all DIY. I couldn’t have done it without my mom!

@HourThyme:  I am not sure if my 9 months is deemed short (it is in today’s standards). Got engaged Sept 2012, wanted to get married in April or May 2013….but had to pick June for logistic, and venue availability.

We have technically had an 11 month engagement, but I haven’t been “allowed” to plan until recently. My Fiance is in school, and his mom, a former event planner, has been super focused on FSIL’s wedding. So everyone has just told me to have patience and wait till the other wedding was over (it was Sunday.) UGH I HAD A YEAR ENGAGEMENT FOR A REASON! But no one has taken my seriously throughout it, so now I feel like I’m having a short logistical/planning engagement even though it has the average length.

So in the meantime, I have honed exactly what I want it to look like. :p 8 months of planning and pinning decor. Rofl.

I’m new to the boards and planning but I’m doing everything in a short timeframe as well. Both me and my best friend who is getting married in less than 3 weeks!!

We are both pulling things togther in the 3 month mark and this is what I’ve learned so far:

  • All in one venues are great! We are both going with places that take care of everything, linen, tablewear etc and having the ceremony and reception at the same location
  • Unless you have a lot of spare time keep DIY projects to a minimum, my best friend is making ribbon roses and it’s taking up all of her time
  • Relax and have fun! If you are crazy picky and need the perfect everything you will stress yourself out over nothing

In the end no one will notice if the centerpieces aren’t your perfect vision, we are both quite easy going so if it’s close enough it’s good for us! We are both also on tight budgets so we’re doing our best to get what we want for the right price and the right amount of effort.

It can be done!
