I got some samples a few weeks ago and the linen was super flimsy (flimsier than the regular matte that comes standard). For the extra cost, I dont think it’s worth it at all. If i remember correctly, I thought the premium matte stock was really thick, borderline too thick. Which also makes it harder to get into the envelopes. I wish they had a paper weight option between the matte and  premium matte.

I got envelopes from Amazon that fit fine from the samples I got. But I’m also not doing an inner and outer envelope. I’m just doing one good quality outer envelope.

I got the premium matte and it definitely wasn’t too thick. It was perfect. I like the textured look of the linen, but we printed front and back so I was worried it wouldn’t work as well.

I did premium matte too and was pleased with the thickness and quality.

How often do they do this 40% off sale? I want to take advantage of it but would like some samples, too. Hmmm

Did they change something?? As it so happens, I have my sample kit here with me at work today in my wedding binder, and the linen is wonderful – still our #1 choice. It’s thicker by a good amount than the matte or the premium matte — which I can’t tell a lick of difference between, By The Way. The linen sample I’m holding is printed on both sides, and looks and feels amazing and luxurious. But I ordered this sample kit a few months ago… I hope they haven’t changed anything! =/

mandygurl88:  We did VP for our Save the Dates, and used the linen finish and loved it.  You’re correct, the VP 5×7 sizing is actually a little larger than those dimensions.  We ordered linen envelopes from a separate site that were A7 (5.25×7.25) and it was a perfect fit.

ETA: we ordered our STDs in January, and I didn’t find the linen too flimsy, but I can’t imagine it would’ve changed that much in several months.

I used the linen and loved it. I ended up buying outer envelopes and new inner envelopes as well because I think Vistaprint’s envelopes are very flimsy. But their 5×7 envelopes seemed like true 5×7.

I double sided with linen for my STDs. One side was white with some dark black outlining, and the other was a full bleed photo in grayscale. You couldn’t see through either side. I loved the linen and will be doing it for our invitations. Some other family sent their STDs around the same time, and used wedding paper divas — our STDs looked a lot more expensive, but we probably spent 1/4 of what they did.

Vistaprint do have good deals that make their products even more appling, but I have not brought from them before, do the end products look good enough for wedding invites?

gabbalicious:  If you upgrade to the linen paper, and buy envelopes from a stationary store/supplier, yes. I used cutcardstock, and was able to get linen textured envelopes for 50 bucks (150 envelopes). My friend’s mom is a really high profile wedding planner, and she said our STDs looked better than most she’s seen. She couldn’t believe it was vistaprint.
