- Wedding: September 2015
Fiance called me earlier today asking me if I remembered the music from the Doctor Who episode “The Rings of Akhaten.” I said of course, that piece is so powerful and gorgeous, you can’t forget it. He said that he would like to use it for the wedding and said he thought it’d be an awesome first dance song. Listening to it again, I think it would be nice and we’re both big Who fans, plus I’ve been doing choral music for years. However, it’s not romantic in anyway (I mean, it’s also played as 11 regenerates). I also don’t know if the emotion and the feeling behind it truly translate if you aren’t a Whovian or familiar with it. It’s also not the easiest to dance to. Not impossible, we’d just need to practice.
How do you feel about it as a first dance song? If you aren’t familiar with it, does it still resonate with you? Is it danceable in a way that’s not totally awkward shuffling? Those who don’t like it, do you have suggestions for where else it can be used or should we not use it at all?
These are the questions that haunt me. I could use the opinions. Also, in case you missed it, there’s a link to the song above.
