@jippyskippy:  I love that headband.  You must tell me where you got that.  You look amazing and so happy.

I am loving this thread!

Re the veil, I ordered extra tulle when I ordered my dress, in order to get a veil made in the exact same shade of oatmeal as the dress, and I also ordered extra flowers (have to be ordered in 3s. 3 for $50), so that I can have headbands made for the flower girls with the same flowers from my dress. Their dresses will be the mini oatmeal tulle version of mine, with the tulle flowers on it (you can see on the site). So ordering the tulle might be an option for some of you all too!

Accessories are hare but I think I found them, mixing a rose gold with white gold, and rhinestones. Little river, I’m with you, going for a glam look, and wedding is a late 40’s/early 50’s Hollywood glam theme. Check out some of Dior’s dresses when he came out with the “new look” in around 1947, which resemble this one. This was after WWII when Poofier dresses came back into fashion because the war was over and fabric didn’t have to be rationed anymore (the end of the slim dreads for a while). I know, Too Much Information, sorry! I think the dress can be interpreted in many diff ways. I feel like a goddess from the silver screen like tonights mentioned in her post.

I tried on the ivory as well (but only because my mom was in town and I wanted to show her it on me, but since I was at a store closer to home, they only had it in white), but agree with a lot of others in that the oatmeal color better suits the dress and makes it stand out. I loks so diff in ivory, But I think it is beautiful and unique either way, and it depends on your skin tone and whether you want to be more traditional. 😉

Jippyskippy you look gorg in your pics!

@LittleRiver:

I love the Lacie in pink!  I think you should go w/ that even though your other friend is wearing the pair.  They are popular wedding shoe style so I’m sure lots wear them, which in my attempt to be “different”, is discouraging, but I can see why, it is so gorg!  Totally compliments the dress as well.  I was looking at a similiar shoe style, not sure if it is that exact one.  I normally wear 3-4 inches but have to be careful w/ the length of the dress because I’m tall, so I need 2-2 1/2 inches.

Re the tulle & flowers, it was my mom’s idea to ask if we could them.  Genius I tell ya!  I agree, I’m going for a shorter veil too.  Maybe slightly above the waist.

@tonights:  I am tall like you!  One inch shorter, 5’10.  I think the poofiness is slightly diff, doesn’t look as poofy on jippyskippy.  I like that it isn’t TOO poofy.  I was the 1st to try on the dress as it has just arrived at the boutique & no one else wanted to try it on.  The store was excited that I called to make an appt to come in and try it on!  I’m sure you can add a petticoat, but the back might change, and I like how it cascades.  Also, I think it changes once it’s been steamed and let our of the garment bag for a while.   The bag squishes it all down!  So it probably fluffs up a bit on it’s own.

On another note, I can’t stop looking at all of you in the dress.  I love all of the images of it.  And never thought I’d be this type of giddy bride.  It’s just the most gorgeous thing I’ve ever worn, and amongst my friends, I’m known for haveing lots of dresses, they are my fav! I have a room at home full of my accessories, cosmetics, and DRESSES!

I am looking into replacing the sash.  My plan is to go to the fabric store this weekend and see what I can find.  I’m not really in a rush yet, so I was going to play around with some ideas and see what I end up with.  I’ll post pictures when I get to that point.

@LittleRiver:  I really love the pink satin lacie.  I think it matches beautifully with the oatmeal, and you should rock them.  They’re gorgeous.  That color is amazing.

@shoegal84:  Thanks for the tip on ordering flowers.  that thought hadn’t occurred to me, but it makes perfect sense.

I stole this from the Wtoo website from the flower girl section.  Do they actually make this headband? I feel like it has more tulle on it than the normal flowers have, so it can’t just be the flowers put together.  Shoegal, is that what you plan on making?

Also a little off subject, I finally booked my venue, and I’m a little uncertain about how the Olivia is going to look in the venue. We’re going to get married in front of the curtains and I’m not really sure what kind of style/accessories I should be aiming for.  Vintage?  As much as I love old hollywood glam, I’m just not sure it’ll work.

I’m currently thinking about these peep toe flats, or possibly similar ones. Louboutin made a pair like that several years ago, but I feel like it would be a pain to track them down in my size now.

I feel like if I get anything with flowers on the toe, it will catch on the tulle skirt and make it look awkward, so I’m trying to find something very simple but still beautiful (and comfortable). I am already so clumsy that I would rather not chance anything catching on my hem.  Any thoughts on these?

@alejandra: I LOVE that hairpiece, omg.

@shoegal84 That is a superb idea about the extra tulle. I’m not planning on a veil but I might make my own hairpiece, depending, so I wonder if I’d be able to order extra oatmeal tulle after the fact. Must call my salon!

And thanks for the opinions about the poofyness. I think I’ll just wait until my gown comes in and go from there. I also love the flow of the back, so I don’t want to disrupt it with a petticoat unless there is a real need.
