I highly recommend Excellence Playa Mujeres. We went there on our honeymoon and it was amazing. The food far exceeded our expectations. We had some of the best meals we’ve ever had. It’s adults only, there are a ton of pools, service is beyond incrediblE, swim up bar, awesome drinks. It was the best  vacation we’ve ever had and I am dying to go back!

My husband and I chose Valentin Imperial Maya after TONS of research!  We were able to stay in the 2nd nicest room for a smidge over $4000 (including airfare) and just had a phenomenal time.  Let me know if you have questions ๐Ÿ™‚

chelseakayd:  Isla mujeres! We stayed at Privileges Aluxes and it was way better than we thought it was going to be! I am a little bit of a travel snob and I absolutely loved the island. perfect weather, great flights from the US, really nice people. there is an all inclusive package but the way better option is to go out in town walking distance and eat locally. pM me for more details or you can search wedding bee  – I actually got the idea from this site

lealorali:  I second Privilege Aluxes on Isla Mujeres- it was maybe a 20min taxi ride from the Cancun airport, then a 30 minute ferry which was awesome!! We got married & honeymooned there & cannot wait to get our butts back there! We loved the location right on the awesome beach, but also right in the tiny town so you could walk around & shop/eat/drink. The people were all so very nice- we felt very safe even wandering around drunk at midnight! The other great part is that the cancun side of mexico is facing the East so you don’t get sunsets over the water- only sunrises. Because this hotel is on the island, it is facing West- towards cancun- so you get to see the city on a clear day, and great over water sunsets. Check out their tripadvisor page- that was what really sold me on them!

we stayed at the beach palace in cancun for a long weekend, when we were there for a friend’s wedding. it was wonderful. not the fanciest, but it was all inclusive and it had fantastic restaurants. the pools were awesome, and the beach was great too.

it’s a part of the palace resort chain. http://www.palaceresorts.com/

I am also a huge fan of the Excellence resorts.  We honeymooned at Playa Mujeres and have stayed at Riviera Cancun three times.   We highly enjoy both resorts but are a bigger fan of Excellence Riviera Cancun.  The food, drinks, beach, pools, etc are the same at both resorts.  We just like the layout better at ERC.  It is also smaller so it feels much more intimate and not as crowded.  ERC is also only 20 minutes from the airport as opposed to 45+ minutes to EPM.

We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraisi on the Mayan Riviera – really beautiful resort! It’s connected to 4 other resorts that you can access for more pools and restaurants but their guests can’t come to yours. Adults only, 5 star, perfect beaches, swim up bar, yoga, spa. We took a day trip to see some of the ruins. I highly recommend it ๐Ÿ™‚

Another plug for the Valentin Imperial Maya! The pool is seriously the largest I’ve ever seen – longer than a football field – and had not one, but two swim up bars! We spent most of our time at the pool, but the beach was great too. And we enjoyed all the restaurants. We seriously have nothing bad to say except that we had to come home.

You’ve gotten a lot of great recommendations on here! I love Excellence Playa Mujeres, Secrets Maroma, and El Dorado Casitas Royale! These will all have amazing food, ( a la carte dining, rather than endless buffetts), entertainment, swim-up bars and more.
