I’ve been trying to think up good country songs for our reception. It’s hard due to the whole stereotype of country music being all about lost love… well, there’s a reason the stereotype exists! What’s your style? Classic country, 90s, new hits, anything?

To add to the above list

  • Alan Jackson: Little Bitty
  • Keith Urban: Who Wouldn’t Wanna Be Me
  • Patty Loveless: Timber I’m Falling in Love
  • Jake Owen: Yee Haw
  • Tim McGraw: Real Good Man (good for what my Fiance calls the “dirty two-step”)
  • Hank Jr: All My Rowdy Friends (Are Coming Over Tonight)
  • Not exactly country, but “Mustang Sally” is a fantastic electric slide song!

  • Alan Jackson’s “Good Time” is a good line dancing song.
Here are some ideas for you–There are lots of fun songs above, but I had to include a few slower songs because you’ll want to give people opportunities to cozy up with their sweeties for slow dances.  Most of these are a little older, but so good and wedding appropriate I think:

  • “Together Again” Buck Owens

  • “Lovebug” done by either George Strait OR George Jones

  • “Forever and Ever” Randy Travis

  • “Cotton Eye Joe” by the Rednex  (Fun dance song)

  • “I Swear” John Michael Montgomery

  • “Life’s A Dance” John Michael Montgomery

  • “It’s A Good Day” done by Asleep at the Wheel (we played this at our wedding!)

  • George Strait–too many to mention!  If you want some good two-stepping songs or love songs George is the man!  “I Cross My Heart” would make a great 1st dance song or just a good slow song.  I practically cry every time I listen to it.

  • “A Long Line of Love” performed by Michael Martin Murphey

Sorry about the goofy spacing!  It was good and then I came back to edit something and now it’s all messed up

So I don’t frequent country songs, but Darling Husband does and we’re big fans of “Red Solo Cup” by Toby Keith.  I kind of wish we would have played a few songs on my ipod while the band took a break because I’m quite sure the majority of our guests would have broke out into song, drink in hand with that one…
