I don’t think you should call in.

Call in, technically you are sick, no one has to know the reason why.

Can you go to bed early today? Honestly I would judge it on whether you feel up to doing your job or not.

If you won’t be able to do your job because you feel like you’re in hell, I’d call out. It’s a terrible feeling to go to work hungover.

I wouldn’t do it, unless your sick days are part of a “personal leave” package- i.e., you get a set number of days off to take as sick days, vacations, mental health days, etc. But…if you’re going to use it as a straight “sick day,” it’s not going to look great and could cause some questions/undermine your reliability in the future. Especially since you have a vacation on Friday!

It might be better to suck it up and go in, and if you still feel crappy, trying to go home early with a “migraine” or something.

If you have the time- do it. I don’t know how your employer is, but as long as I have X amount of hours in my PTO bank, all I need to tell them is I’m not coming in and that’s all

Do you have sick time to use? If so, those days are a benefit of your job therefore you get to use them at your discretion. If you want to call in, call in. I do so pretty regularly since I lose ’em if I don’t use ’em. I’m underpaid as it is so you bet your ass I take full advantage of every benefit I can get from my job.

Also, I’ve never once felt guilty about calling in. Maybe when I work for an employer who gives a shit about me but in corporate America (where I work), that just doesn’t happen.

I personally wouldn’t do it- the work day after a known event is so suspicious of a day to take off. At best go to work and come home early if you still feel really sick. You will at least get points for going in! Or be honest when you call in and say you had a big night!

I’d do it with no guilt whatsoever.  I’m not sure if things are different here in Canada, but if you call in sick, it’s no one’s business but your own why you did.

If you’re sick — regardless of the reason — take a sick day. Unless your employer is very strict with them, you’ve only taken one this year. Enjoy the day in bed!
