(Closed) Calling January 2012 Brides – What have you accomplished?

We have a venue (same place for ceremony & reception)

Have talked to a photographer, haven’t made a contract

Picked out a dress, place to make cupcakes and selected caterer and back up caterer (but no contracts yet)

Have lots of ideas for centerpieces and decorations, but we’ll iron that out closer to the date. 

We’re doing engagement photos this weekend, then I’ll order the STD’s.  I need to call an officiant, sign things with the photographer and talk to a florist (but I’m only planning on ordering one bouquet and some bouts and corsages, that’s not huge).

The hard part was deciding what we want.  Right now it all seems pretty easy.

We’re not having a bridal party, so the only things I want from a florists are my bouquet and a few things for family.  If we have flowers as decorations, we’ll be getting them from Sam’s club/using silk flowers.

Fiance also made a giant list of all the alcohol we plan to buy for the wedding, and how much of each type of bottle.  Fiance used to do event bartending, so he’s going to call an old coworker and ask him to work the wedding.

I should call a possible officiant now while I’m thinking about it.  Sigh, I hate talking to strangers on the phone!

Wow I’m glad to know I’m not the only crazy one doing everything already!

We picked out our date and colors.

We’ve got our venue reserved, photographer reserved, florist is done also, my dress and undergarments are bought and paid for, centerpieces have been picked out along with guestbook, basket, pillow and garter. The cake has been flavored, ordered and designed πŸ™‚ Oh and I just happen to have a friend that’s a pastor so that’s done too.

We just decided on our strings and DJ over the weekend so we are working on contracts now. By The Way I just bought my candy buffet jars off of here from a really nice girl. I’m way ahead of the game! Writing actually relieved some stress. I’m doing good! Good luck ladies!!!

We just found our venue yesterday morning!  We’re over the moon!  

We have to officially book that ($$) and then we’ll have our date an venue. (same place for reception and ceremony)  

i made my bridesmaids “will you be my bridesmaids” cards and delivered most of them in person.

Date for dress shopping with Future Mother-In-Law and engagement party set!

 

It’s so good to see so many bees hard at work on 1/2012!  I thought I was crazy!

Wow, I love that I’m not the only wacky one either!

I already have my dress and veil, although my grandmother may add beading embroidery to the bottom…she has time. πŸ™‚

I have pre-booked the reception and have found pictures of what I want the cake and flowers to look like.

We also know our wedding song: Chet Baker’s My Funny Valentine. (That would have been too cheesy in Feb!)

And I have booked a guitar-cellist duo to play during cocktail hour and dinner. (FI and I are true music lovers).

We’re all off to a great start!

Good job – you have done heaps!

It feels so good to get things out the way early.  We have:

– Booked and payed the deposit for the church, reception and photographer

– Have decided on caterer, just need to sign contract and pay deposit

– Have decided color scheme, asked bridal party and MC, and I have had my first proper dress search but nothing is decided fully yet.  I also know what flowers I want, and how I want the centerpieces for the tables to look and have borrowed satin ribbon for the pews in the church.

Next is to decide on a priest and sign up for pre-marital counseling then apart from the cake that is all the major things out the way!

We got engaged a year ago and have a year to go so plenty of time to get everything sorted.

I am booking the church this week, and meeting with a few florists.

I’m also trying to pick the car that we will escort me and my parents to the church-

My mom also got my veil. πŸ™‚

We’re done — and I mean completely finished — with everything EXCEPT:

– Final invitation design (and we’re doing that this week or next)

– Final table design

– Small details like bathroom baskets, signage, tags

-Shoes

There might be a few more things, but everything else is booked, paid for, designed, ordered, and so on.

Oh my gosh am so ashamed to even post here!!! Hahahah

Am a jan bride and I literally have nothing! LOL am still struggling with the colors!!!

Oh MY  gosh am soooooooo behind!!! Please help me ladies and leave suggestions and coments! My colors are dusty pink,grey and gold..

In a flurry of insanity, 

  • dress (complete with veil, wrap, gloves)
  • reception venue
  • ceremony chapel
  • catering
  • photo booth
  • DJ

were all signed/paid for within a WEEK of getting engaged. Crazy, but so. much. fun.
We’re taking everything else more slowly now that we still 10 months and it’s too early to start making escort cards and drafting wedding-day-schedules – all the tiny details.
We’ve also contracted our photographer, begun our website/stationary design, registered, and allllllmost selected wedding bands!

@Princezzia.Chica: Don’t be ashamed! You still have time. πŸ™‚ The most important first step is booking the ceremony and reception venues!

Make a list of everything you need to do and then even schedule which months you will do what…

 

@Ms. Anemone: you’re doing great! I’m like you- I couldnt wait to get as much done as possible… Everyone thinks I’m crazy.
