at my 2nd dress fitting. bust still needs to be taken in a little, modesty piece reduced, and the ruffles flattened a litlle when steamed. This is about a bridal 32. 2 more panels were added into the back becuase the designer only goes up to 28.

@futuremrswirt2013:  This may be a bit late but I share your experience of bridal gown shopping. I was also pretty discouraged and in tears after my last appointment. My measurements are similar to yours (14,16,18) and of course, I have trouble finding anything that flatters my figure. Coincidentally, I also fell on the Allure W311! It’s such a beautiful dress and all the details makes it very special. I am also trying to lose weight and giving you my support in your endeavour. You are going to look gorgeous for your big day!

Firstly, you ladies are all incredibly gorgeous. I was drooling over all the pictures, you all rock those dresses.

I was really scared to go dress shopping (street size 14/16) and thought I’d look like a frilly cupcake with the current dress styles (I’m so not a frilly, ‘poofy’ princess dress type of person). I’m still not happy with anything I’ve tried on (with the exception of one dress that I’m not sure will be comfortable through the day or suits my body) but reading all your experiences has made me feel so much better. Thank you to all over you fabulous ladies!

@Mrs.LaFountain:  Your beautiful dress looks very much like the dress I am considering. Where did you get it from? And did you find the lace straps comfortable during the day?

@catwoman1701:  I was scared to go shopping the first time… and actually, my first time was HORRID – the saleslady at the place I went to told me flat out that if I lost weight I would have more options, and tried to sell me this beat up dress two sizes too small “as is” because she said that I wouldn’t find anything better.  *shudders*

Luckily, I went to another place that treated me like gold.  My advice for dress-shopping?  Go by yourself the first time and try on one dress of every type of style and see what works best for you.  Pick out a few favorites and then go back with your friends/family/etc (whoever you want with you) and that way you’ll feel more confident in your choices, and you know that the ones you’ll be trying on are ones you like… you’re less likely to feel pressured by friends/family to buy a dress that you don’t want!  And no one knows that style will look good on you… every person and every body is different, and something that looks blah on a hanger might look stunning with your curves!

@Mrs.LaFountain:  That is the dress I’m drooling over! I’m just worried the lace and beading will rub on my arms all day. But man did you rock that dress!

@shaykitteh:  Thanks! I’ve gone twice actually, once with my mom and sister and once with just my sister. It wasn’t near as bad as I thought, but I still don’t feel like me in most of them. But I’m glad to hear that you found a place that treated you right. Sometimes I just can’t believe how rude people have gotten.

It is very hard to feel beautiful specially when everybody around you is alot skinner than you,I should know. But there is the perfect dress for everybody that will help make you feel beautiful.

@catwoman1701:  Haha thank you. I actually had to have the arm holes made bigger thanks to my extra large arms but no rubbing whatso ever. 🙂

I’m a 14.  I haven’t had alterations yet, but I already love my dress!

The sample size is a 22 (I usually wear a 16-18) and it’s a big on me from the waist up.

I’m kinda worried if the entire dress will be big on me once I lose weight.  I want to go down to a street size 10-12.

Btw that dress is Sottero & Midgley Adorae
