If you haven’t checked it out yet, try OffBeatBride.com, they have a ton of unconventional wedding stuff. I’m probably going with a shimmery, wet red lipstick (I love the old Hollywood starlet look in makeup). Barefoot ceremony outdoors, but I’m thinking about some simple henna designs (not an Indian wedding, but it’s one of my favorite traditions). To bring a geeky flair, FI’s cake is going to have a TARDIS as a topper. And my dress shows off my newest, and most favorite ink piece (what makes it better is the piece was a gift from my MOH). Hope you find what you’re looking for!

They have some really cute and unique shoes on Ruche (cheap too!). I got my mustard bow tie kitten heels there!  For bright lipstick, I am definitely a fan of Urban Decay Super Saturated Pencils, Bite Beauty High Pigment Pencil, as well as Nars (Schiap, Funny Face, Heatwave, Manhunt) and Lip Tar.

@miakodamysweet1:  I’ll be showing off my tattoos proudly on my wedding day, staying pale, getting a very edgy haircut, rainbow and glitter makeup, a circlet instead of a veil, foot jewelry instead of shoes, a blue dress…

And I’m considering wearing wings. That’s mostly a money thing, all the ones I’ve loved have been out of my price range.

We’re gonna name our tables after fictional spacecraft, the bridesmaids will be in matching converse, but not matching dresses, I’m saying “get anything purple and above tea length that you feel like.” Actually one of them might wear a suit. The groomsmen will wear vests in the colors of… well right now Fiance has been saying power rangers.

Fiance is thinking “sky pirate” for a clothing theme for himself but we’ll see if he follows through.

My hair is never long and bridal, as currently it is a soft black asymmetrical chin-shoulder length bob with dark red highlights. I like to have fun and stay runway ready (mixmatched attire with edgy makeup and not your typical hairstyle). That being said, I have many looks and romantic with hot roller curls, smoky eyes, and stained lips is certainly one of them. I am getting married 11.1.13, so my hair won’t be grown out much, but I love messy braids and am planning a “native bohemian” theme, so unsure if I will get extrensions or try to pull off something with my medium length du. I recently posted this makeup inspiration and got some ill feedback:

I think this is to die for, but apparently not so “traditional bridal”. I am 100% fine with that. 🙂 I am planning to wear a tulle modified mermaid with scattered lace and illusion neck/back. We will be married just before/at sunrise, in the Arizona desert inside of or just outside of a tipi with various lanterns all around. I say, to each his own. Put your heart and soul into anything you expect to be proud of. <3

@shadowblind:   Offbeat bride is one of my favorite sites! To the OP, you should check out rockandrollbride.com as well, tons of tattooed brides and a lot of creative fun ideas on that site.

I had dark smokey eyes which lots of people told me wasnt bridal, I also have a big tattoo on my back which lots of people thought I should cover up….

The long and short of it is everyone said I was a stunning bride, so it just goes to show those that judged had to eat their words in the end!

I should be getting my weddng pictures this evening so I’ll post a couple of examples for you 🙂

I’m going for kind of a funky vintage thing.  My underlying theme is a Harry Potter one, but I didn’t want it to be super obvious, so owl cake toppers, books, candles and flowers in whatever silver and copper containers I find.  I want the tables to look like things were just sort of thrown there, but it all works together.  I also found these beautiful paper flowers from Etsy made out of book pages.

Fiance Groom’s cake is going to be a Companion Cube, at least that’s what he wants right now.  My hair is going to have streaks of blue and purple in it to go with my colors and I’m probably going to change into converse during the ceremony.

I want to have the bridal party to walk in to the Harry Potter theme music, but we were throwing around the idea of me walking in to the Imperial March.

Not sure about my wedding make up yet, would love to do a red lip but I’ve never liked the way any color looks on them so we shall see.  OCC Lip Tars are definitely the way to go if you want something to last.  Lime Crime make up is pretty cool too.  Etsy would be a good place to look for funky shoes.

I’m a tattooed funky girl who also happens to work in a very conservative field and in the bible belt midwest marrying the dude in a band whose friends ‘thought would never get married.’  We haven’t really gone with a theme, but everything is an expression of who we are.

We are getting married late – twilight/sunset ceremony with celebration under the stars in the garden of a local art gallery.  We’re not dancey people – there will be no dancing and weird dj nonsense.  We’ve made a playlist full of what we like – everything from David Bowie, The Pixies to campy pop songs to blast through the PA.

We’ve been to a million weddings – and feel like you spend too much time waiting around and eating awful food.  Even the weddings we enjoyed still have felt like too much for us.  We’re having 2 hours of celebrating, with no meal.  We have cocktails and our favorite junk food – soft pretzels, pulled pork sliders, cupcakes, eggrolls, nacho bar.  It’s what we snack on – we’d rather eat what we like than pay for a bunch of overplayed spanokopita and crudite.

I’m wearing a dress that is the size of a house – a variation on a Dior couture.  And it’s mostly dotted black tulle with some white highlights.  I don’t consider myself goth, but I don’t wear a ton of color.  99% of my wardrobe is black or grey.  I love bright colors but prefer to punctuate my black with color accessories.  So I’m carrying pale pink and dark purple flowers. I tried a million white dresses – and looked great.  But it wasn’t me and I struggled to pick.  For fun, I tried on a huge black ballgown and immediately felt so much more myself and beautiful.

We have no bridesmaids, groomsmen, etc.  I know my good friends will pitch in and help as needed.  And they will do anything I need to get me through.  I don’t feel like I need to have them buy a special outfit of my picking to prove it.

We want to have fun.  And we are old fashioned nerds.  Like book reading, science loving, wholesome nerds.  We love the state fair and board games.  So, we wanted to rent a ferris wheel.  It proved to be too costly here – but on the East Coast is actually do-able.  Instead – we’re having lawn scrabble and bingo.  Oh yeah – bingo!  And a pinata.  Because hitting things with sticks after giving our friends free booze is a great way to celebrate eternal love, right?

I’ve got family drama – so there will be no rambling and uncontrolled toasts.  Our friend is serving as officiant.  She will be asking everyone to raise a glass to us as she announces us as Mr and Mrs for the first time before we walk back down the aisle.  Then she’s unplugging the mic and hiding it.  Killing two birds with one stone.

We’re walking the aisle as a couple. I don’t feel I’m anyone’s to give away.  And my boy is the person I call when I need backup – I can’t imagine walking the aisle with anyone else.

I don’t feel like I’m doing anything special or that offbeat.  I just planned a normal night of fun for us – but supersized.  I struggled planning for a while, feeling overwhelmed by people’s expectation of what is appropriate.  Family, coworkers, even other Bee’s on this site often questioned if I was crazy – particularly about the dress.  I’m pretty excited to see some more unique brides popping up here!
