I’m a May bride! We’re getting married May 4 :). So far we’ve booked a venue, photographer, videographer, DJ, florist, hair and makeup artist, cocktail hour musicians, and transportation. We just took our engagement photos a few weeks ago, and sent our initial thoughts on our invites to our designer. Next on our list is the cake! My fiance just started dental school, so we tried to get most of the planning done while he was out of school so he could be more involved.

I’m getting married May 25!

Things we have done so far:

– venue booked (It’s a hotel ballroom, so this includes food, alcohol, and some decor things like chairs and linens)

– photographer booked

– ceremony musicians booked and ceremony music selected

– DJ booked for the reception, and I have a rough spotify playlist I’ve been playing around with for song ideas to suggest

– photobooth booked (and they will provide a guest book for guests to paste their photos in, so I guess that takes care of guest book)

– florist booked and we have a general plan for the decor (still have to figure out some details)

– our florist will also be our day-of coordinator

– save the dates are being sent out tomorrow!

– started designing invitations

– ordered my dress and veil and tiara

– wedding party asked; bridesmaid dresses have been selected are being ordered this month

– trolley booked for transportation to and from photo locations

– I don’t know about FH, but I’ve started writing my vows

Things still to do:

– officiant — we’d like FH’s uncle to do it, but if he can’t travel for our wedding, then we will have to find somebody else

– book videographer (planning to do this over the weekend)

– menu selections; cake flavors and design; we also would like to do signature cocktails, so have to figure those out as well

– need to find shoes and earrings to go with my dress

– need to figure out what to do with my hair and makeup and book people for those

– select tuxes for groom and groomsmen

– pick a song for our first dance (we have like 10 we’re trying to choose from) and songs for other stuff (father/daughter dance, bouquet and garter toss, etc.)

– finish designing invitations and send them out when the time is right

– decide what we’re doing for favors

– choose wedding bands

– all the tiny details that no one besides us will care about (toasting flutes, garter, ring bearer and flower girl attire, bathroom baskets, bags for out of town guests, whatever else I’m currently forgetting!)

When I list it all out, I’ve actually gotten more done than it feels like! I’m kind of relieved to have most of the big vendor decisions behind us. Now we’re moving on to smaller details, which I think will be a little more fun for us.

  • Wedding: May 2019 - Church where I grew up

Hi Twinsies! I just got engaged about 2 weeks ago and just set a date! So, yeah, so much to do!!!!! But we are very excited! We have a date (May 24 – yes I know it’s a Friday, but we like to be different), time, and church and reception venue. Wedding party is chosen. I found my dress!!!! FH picked out tuxes for the guys. We picked out colors and I told the girls to pick their own dresses as long as it’s in the scheme. Church came with organist, so that’s covered. And the reception’s gonna be super chill with finger food, cookies, cake, and dancing. Oh and FH and I have our guest list, but MOB and MOG haven’t gotten their hands on it yet… But, that’s all the further I am. Still, not bad for two weeks, eh?

Oh, and we’re both pastors and have a lot of friends who are pastors, so the hardest part about the officiant is deciding which of our friends to ask! Lol

I’m just hoping that caterers, florists, photographers, etc. aren’t all booked or way out of our budget! But, we’re so excited, not just for the wedding, but for the marriage! We’d elope tomorrow if we thought we could get away with it and not regret not having a wedding later. 😀 Looking forward to chatting with you all!

P.S. I can’t help but notice that many of you have been at this a lot longer than I have. Think I can actually pull off a wedding in 8 months?!

  • Wedding: May 2019 - Country/barn

We got engaged August 10 this year and are getting married May 4, 2019.

So far we have our venue and photographer locked down.

Engagement session booked

Officiant booked

I found my dress!

FH has his attire already and working on the groomsmen’s

Guest list is pretty much done

Found my save the dates, RSVP, invites for a great price on Vistaprint

I’ve picked out my colors and have ideas for decorating  I will be working on making a lot of the decorations myself (mom, and friend) this winter. Our venue is lovely on its own so it won’t require a lot in the way of decor.

I’m looking into bakers for the cake and will be talking with florists soon.

Food for reception is squared away

Me and my two maids will be going dress shopping for them in a couple weeks.

I’m pretty much down to working on all the little things!

  • Wedding: May 2019 - Church where I grew up

19mattituck :  I hear ya, girl. I’m in exactly the same boat! I looked at my post earlier in the thread, and I have to laugh. Wow, did everything go wrong with that date, venue, and plan!

Date is now May 25, 2019. And practically everything else from my original post is changed. Different church (in a different state, no less), 2 of my bridesmaids have quit (my future SIL and niece to boot), and there for awhile things were very stressful. But I’ve mellowed now. All the big things are done. Some little things need to happen yet: finalizing the playlist for the reception, making centerpieces for the tables, etc. But I’m very happy with the progress. I have the first of three bridal showers this weekend (I’m a pastor, FH is also a pastor at another church. Both churches are throwing me a shower in addition to the one my Maid/Matron of Honor is throwing), wedding invites are out, RSVPs are coming in… This is really happening!!!!! Shout out to the other May 2019 brides! It won’t be long, now!

Hedirumc :  lol. Just keep breathing, right?

KatzeB :  If you want. I just looked for a May thread, but whatever works for you. I hope the postponing is for good reasons, if not, my sympathies.
