I totally agree.  Getting married on a Saturday is nice, but in my opinion totally not worth the huge price difference.  I don’t consider a Monday or Friday weedings to be “weekdays’  people can take a long weekend.

I am getting married 12/21/12, a Friday.  My Fiance liked the idea of getting married on the day the world is supposed to end.  I let him get his way, I think the date itself is cool.

Close friends and family, the people you really need at a wedding will make the sacrifice and take a long weekend to attend your wedding.

We picked August 23, 2013 just by chance, and then I got to thinking about it and realize that it happens to be the say day the “23rd” as our dating anniversary which is December 23rd so I guess it was just fate to happen that way πŸ˜‰ I haven’t personally heard anything from any of my friends or family but I read snarky things on here all of the time about week day weddings that urks me, but good thing none of them are coming to our wedding πŸ˜‰ My brother just got married and it was on a Monday, my fiances cousin got married on a Wednesday and my best friend got married on a Friday….all beautiful weddings filled with love and THAT my friends is what matters…not having your wedding on a Saturday (and paying double!) πŸ™‚ People who want to be there will be there and that’s what matters!

@MrsOrange:  I think if I would have been willing to push back our wedding even FURTHER (it will already be a 25 month engagement when we get married) my Fiance would have picked the same date 12/21/12 he is SO obsessed with that stuff! Awesome choice!

I’m on a Wednesday afternoon. I figure, we are taking two weeks out of our lives and traveling all the way to America so that we can have a wedding with family. If they can’t take an afternoon off work to come out and support us, we don’t want them there anyway. I did have a 60% decline rate on RSVPs, but whatever. The people who really matter to us will be there.

We didn’t choose Wednesday because it is cheaper, but because it is a significant date to us and we wanted a date that had some meaning rather than just something random. Plus, I’ve only had about six months to plan and I figured trying to get a weekend date on such short notice would be very unlikely.

@smendoza912:  Yeah I am definitely expecting it be hot but NOT AZ hot I am sure haha! It is an evening wedding so at least the sun won’t be beating down on us or anything and I think it will make for a really nice outdoor summer reception πŸ™‚ and yay for “23!” I think some people really just worry too much about what other people think and base their decision on that but to each their own! πŸ™‚

We picked Thursday Jan 3rd hoping people wouldn’t come.  I know it sounds sad but we are having a double wedding with Fiance sister and we only wanted the 4 of us, photographer and officiant, but Fiance has family that wants to come. So they are coming, still only about 30 people

We got married on Wednesday. We wanted to get married on a weekday because my husband’s cousin in a professional photographer and offered to do our photos for us. It was a very busy time of year for him, so we hoped to avoid other weddings that way. Also, my husband is named after his maternal grandfather and we thought since the timing made sense it would be nice to be maried on his grandparents anniversary.

It was during the school break and all of our parents are teachers and our sibings are younger than us, so not working. We got married in Hawaii, so a lot of people were coming in specifically for the wedding anyway. We had a family only ceremony in the morning and then made sure to have the reception late enough that people on a 9-5 work schedule could stop by if they wanted. We got about the turn out we were expecting and as far as I know nobody complained.

Last year I attended a wedding on a Thursday evening – most family and friends were from out of town and so made a long ” destination wedding” weekend out of it. My Darling Husband and I had to leave a bit early as we had a two hour drive home and work the next day, but it was as lovely and festive as a Saturday event – and the party was still in full swing when we left. So I say yay weekday brides!

We’re Jewish, so getting married between Friday night and Saturday night was out (Shabbat is a holy day of rest; therefore, getting married during Shabbat is prohibited). I didn’t want a Sunday wedding. My favorite numbers are 5 and 15, and May 15th happens to fall on a Thursday. I asked my FH about the date and he loved it. πŸ™‚
