Camp Kiwanee brides- reviews and questions

Hi There,

I’m getting married at Camp Kiwanee later this year and we rented the entire South End cabins for our wedding night.  We’re still tossing between either covering the cost ourselves or asking our guests to give $40 per cabin.  We too are realizing how quickly things add up so it will depend on where we stand with the budget as we get closer to the wedding. If we decide on having our guests pay we’ll most likely have them pay us directly…it just seems easier that way.

From what I can tell so far the Bartending Service seems pretty decent. They have a good selection of drink options and when I asked to make changes to some of the standard options (ie. changing Heineken to Stella Artois, changing Chardonnay to Moscado) the Owner said it wouldn’t be a problem at all.

They do a consumption based bar so you pay per drink…which I’ll be honest, scared me a little at first.  After looking into it further it I realized it’s actually not so bad…they don’t charge you for the Bartender, disposable cups, mixers, etc. so they’re only making $ off of the drinks.  We’re planning on covering the cost of the cocktail hour and converting to a cash bar after that.

I’m not sure if the packages have changed at CK since we booked with them last year but when we reserved the SE Cabins it came with the Pavillion (one of the main reasons we booked the entire SE).  The woman who gave us the tour gave me the impression that if we wanted the Pavillion we should reserve the enitre SE because of the potential noise issue and not disrupting other guests.  Once I said we would be interested in reserving the entire SE she made it sound like we could do just about anything and laughed when I talked about our “after partaayy”.  I think they anticipate a rowdy crowd after any wedding…particularly when people aren’t driving and are staying on site.

Hopefully this helps a little.  Good luck!

lstork:  I talked to someone who photographed a wedding there and they said they had an after party until 3am and used a cup ( no cans or bottles)

and that it was awesome 🙂

I got married there last year.  They say they are strict with the alcohol at the after party but the person who is there for the event is awesome.  He didn’t care that we had alcohol after.  We didn’t need to put it in cups we had beer bottles and cans.  He just asked us to make sure we cleaned everything up.  I =f you have any questions let me know.  I never go on this site so it may take me a while to respond unless you send me a private message or send me an email address that I can contact you with.

Does anyone have an update on this? I am planning to have my wedding here next year but had some questions about their alcohol policies. We are planning to rent the whole south end – are they still relaxed about alcohol at the after party?
