We are doing a campground wedding. 55 days to go! We rented the entire campground so people can hang out as long as they like, stay in the campground or go to nearby hotels. We got a big tent and some other small ones to keep us covered from the weather or hot sun! Theres a little culdasac we are going to get married in surrounded by trees and a creek, but if the weather goes bad we will get married in the big tent!
We are having a pig roast for dinner, the caterer is doing it at the grounds.
A pie bar for dessert with smore favors!
After dark there is a large central firepit we will have going.
We got sparklers and chinese lanterns to release in the evening.
We got lots of lighting to light up the tent, and are having solar garden lights to light the path to the outhouses. We are also renting a few portapotties to have extra clean facilities!
The biggest issue has been power I think because there is NO power or water on the site.
We are pretty casual though and we knew we didnt want to have a ballroom or hotel wedding. This is much more us, we can hang out as long as we want without having to be out by midnight or worry about cleanup on our wedding night. We have the camground for all 3 days.
It wasn’t any cheaper though! So if your thinking it will be you might want to re-think! It all depends on how you do it I guess, but having a wedding for 150 ppl outdoors with consideration for weather, lighting, and comfort led to renting and brining in tent, chairs, tables, caterer, power, lighting, outhouses.. refridgeration? Cold drinks? bugspray? sunscreen? too hot? too cold (heater?). It all adds up. $$$$
I really can’t wait though! I think we’ve got most of our bases covered and its going to be such a great casual romantic day. All we want is for everyone to enjoy themselves (and us too!).
Make sure your upfront about what your guests are attending too! We made sure everyone invited knew that we werent expecting black tie, and they could expect the possibilty of rain.
