My finace and I are getting married this summer at a state park about 3 hours north of where we live. The campground is right on Lake Huron and they have a beautiful stone and brick pavillion that sits about 100 yards back and over looks the beach. We rented out the pavillion for the day for only $50 and planned to get married on the beach then have an informal reception afterwards at the pavillion with a menu of BBQ chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers and a variety of cold salads. Theres also a fire pit that were gonna have going to enjoy smores and roasted marshmellows. We have a lot of family and friends joining us for the weekend and staying at the campgrounds with us. Im so excited for this!!!

dianemsykes: Very pretty. Note that the OP was married July 2011 and has not been active on WeddingBee for a year.

A friend booed campground for a week, had plenty of activites planned and ended it with the wedding. i wish i had pictures but i was unable to attend. Another friend is planning a wedding in a dry lake bed and use an aerostream trailer for the catering. As soon as she finds the dress the wedding is on! I love how creative people are.

I really love that people get to know each other over a couple of days. Of course, it is important to have plans for folks that don’t or can’t camp (like great Aunt Minnie). But this campground is close to historic Lewisburg PA which has all the amenities you could want. The river at Steel Steeds is really pretty for a backdrop. And at night, dancing around the campfire to a live bluegrass band – can’t be beat!
