I think it is fine!  Ivory vs white is more of a tone difference and has to do more with what looks good with your skin than decorations.

No one is going to know if you dress is white or ivory unless they hold a piece of white paper up to it.

My theme has a lot of black and white too, and my dress is ivory.  First of all, bridal ivory is a lot more white than anything.  It’s just a softer white.  Secondly, do you really want to be matchy-matchy with your decor??  If you’re standing next to the tablecloth, your dress will be a different color, and I personally think that’s a good thing.  Stand your ground if that’s the dress you want.  Good luck!

Your mom is that upset that your dress isn’t white? Most brides wear ivory and no one knows the difference. One of my BMs is getting married in August and her theme is black, white, silver with damask. She also purchased an ivory dress. Show your mom pics of different weddings and see if she can even guess if the dresses are white or ivory.

Your dress will be fine with your color scheme. The bride should stand out, not blend in.

Way too much emphasis is placed on the “suitability” of the dress. You need wear something you love and feel good in-end of story.

I don’t understand why she would be so upset that it’s ivory… would she even be able to tell if you just told her it was white??? I think you should have the dress you really love, whether your mom likes it or not. Frankly it’s AMAZING!!! And in ivory it will be even more stunning!!! Keep the dress and if you think it will help let some time pass and then sit down with your mom in a loving way and have a converstaion about what’s really going on with her. To pull out of paying for it because of a color is pretty ridiculous. And if you think she won’t pay for it in the end, are you able to buy it yourself? I know it’s hard not to have the approval of your mom on such a big thing like your wedding dress, I’m there myself. But maybe if she knows how her reaction makes you feel she will tone it down, and be happy for you.

Here’s a bigger pic of your dress: BEAUTIFUL!

Wow, your family is blowing this out of proportion!  Seriously, if you hadn’t told your family it was ivory they probably would never have known.  I have a DB dress that is “ivory” but it really is just a soft white.  I would show your mom the dress again and tell her it’s the same dress but in white… and then when she compliments it say “just kidding, this is actually the ivory you are freaking out over…” 😉
