Darling Husband has been wearing his late father’s wedding band since we eloped, and now we’re finally getting around to shopping for a band for him.
He likes yellow gold “brushed satin” rings with milgrain on the edges. I found a ring online that is perfect in every way, from the size to the details, but it is shiny gold finish rather than the “brushed satin” look.
I was wondering — if I were to buy the ring and take it to a jeweler, can they change the finish from shiny to brushed satin? I’m hunting around on the internet and can’t seem to find an answer.

Thank you! I was hunting for something like that. Right now it is Sunday afternoon and our jeweler is closed…. I think I will call them on Monday morning and ask what they charge for this sort of thing, and if they advise doing that sort of thing vs. just buying the ring ready made in the finish you want.

Thanks GelaMac. I found an amazing deal online for a ring for him — basically one third the price of some examples we saw today at a big retailer/jeweler chain. The online ring has all the right qualities that we’re looking for, except it doesn’t have the brushed satin. I think this is going to work out fine once I talk to our family jeweler on Monday.
