I never usually wear strapless shirts, dresses or anything. I wasn’t intending to get a strapless gown either, but as soon as I tried on my gown, I was in love. We got a lace bolero for the ceremony, but I am getting a bit nervous about being so bare for the actual reception…and too hot if I wear the bolero.
Can a seamstress make straps for a gown?? I will have a lot of extra fabric once it is hemmed, so I suppose they could use the fabric from there. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts about this?

That should be one of the easiest fixes for a seamstress – I doubt it will be a problem.

Absolutely–a good seamstress will be able to do that, no problem.

A good seamstress should have no problems making straps for your gown. If you would feel more comfortable with straps, go for it!

Really? That is awesome! I was angsting about that for a few days before I posted…so happy! You ladies are the bestest!
Do you think it will look weird if I have a bolero and straps though?

of course they can add straps–very easy you can actually get detachable straps too…I know a bride that wore straps to the ceremony and then removed them for the reception.

i think the bolero will look fine over the straps, it probably won’t even be noticeable. if you want though, it would be easy for the seamstress to put in detachable straps.

Take the bolero when you go to the seamstress. She can design the placement of the straps so they won’t show when you have the bolero on.
This is a very easy alteration for anyone with even basic sewing skills.
