I bought my dress in a size 10 (i was in a hurry because I moved out of the country so I couldn’t wait for them to order one in) and I’m a street size 00 and I got it altered to fit me perfectly.

@Hannahptobe:  You should be fine. Most wedding dresses run small, and dresses can be easily altered down two sizes.

It honestly depends on the style of the dress.  Mine had to go from a 10 to a 6 and they had to reorder because they said I was taking so much out of the middle that it would affect the cut/style of the dress.  I would have your tailor check it out.  If you’re getting it done at the salon that you purchaed it at, I would think that they wouldn’t charge extra if you have to reorder…I got mine at DB and they didn’t charge extra for a reorder.
