(Closed) Can a size 12 dress be altered to fit a size 4?

@Kluchin:Any dress can be altered. However, this much work may cost you a small fortune.

You could just spend less on a dress that fits.  The alteration cost would be ridiculous.

I’d imagine that the original shape/integrity of the dress would be drastically changed by going down that much, no matter how awesome the alterations.  It would also cost a freaking fortune.  I’d find another dress in the right size 🙂

I don’t think that seamstresses like to alter more than a few sizes because it will drastically change the foundation of the dress.

I work at a bridal shop and have talked to our seamstresses and generally a dress can be altered 1-2 sizes up or down without completely altering/ruining the integrity and basic design of the dress. Size 12 down to a 4 might not work out so well.

Gonna have to agree with FutureMrsNee, I was told my dress could be altered up/down 2 sizes when I purchased it and I don’t even think that after taking it down that far, it would look the same at all. If that’s the dress for you, I would keep looking for one in your size… :/
