It’s out there. Somewhere in the world. In fact, I saw it in the recent Knot magazine.
Sitting there high on the page it taunted me, making sure I knew it still existed but would never have it.
The saddest part is that I can afford it. Every.Single.Penny. But I live in Oklahoma. And apparently no one in Oklahoma carries Justin Alexander Signature 9552. Or Justin Alexander Signature. Or even garden-variety Justin Alexander. I drove to Tulsa. No dice.
Wrote Justin Alexander an email. They told me to try a certain boutique in Norman, which I did. I took time off work just to be told that they *used* to carry Justin Alexander. And that they ordered MY dress for a girl about my size. And it looked LOVELY on her. Good to know, but salt in the wound nonetheless.
It would seem to me that it’s a pretty good sign that the system is broken when you have a seller trying to sell something at a given price, a buyer willing to pay that price for the item, and no way to connect the two.
I’m almost willing to buy this dress sight unseen. I saw it on Jay’s Bridal but was going to try to find a place to try it on before possibly buying it on there.
Realizing that probably wasn’t going to happen, I went tonight to go ahead and buy it anyway, and it seems to be GONE.
I really don’t think it’s fair that I should have to drive two states over to pay full price for the dress I want. Surely there’s a better way.
And if you see my Justin, tell it that there’s a lady in Oklahoma who will pay a pretty penny to give it a good home.

Could you call the store and order it over the phone?

Did you try Alissa’s bridal in Tulsa, they use to carry his line? Also I dnt know what part of OK you live in but I Do Bridal and tux does in Wichita. I tried some on there about 3 months ago. I live in North Central Okla so its only an hour there. Hope that helps

@MissTatas– great idea! bc if you order the dress out of state they will mail it to your house and you dnt have to pay taxes on it

See it? It showed up at my house today! For real! 🙂
I dove 4 hrs each way twice to try her on! I wound up buying another dress…. and that went horrible… so I pretty much called EVERY JA signature store in the US to find a sample that someone would sell me. I totally get it! I know a girl who went from FL to Georgia to try it on and it seems everyone I’ve found who wore her had to drive at least 4 hrs… haha
I know there’s a store in Houston with it. The sample had a few small holes in the skirt but it’s gorgeous and you could try it on.
Do you mind me asking what size you are? There’s also a 6 avail on preowned wedding dresses.com I also have pics of a few different “sizes” of girls I can email you photos of. PM me for more details or if you want to set up a phone call to talk about it, lol.
I was actually coming to make a post about it, so keep your eyes open 😉
Even though your wedding date is in a while, if you want it, get it soon… I’ve been stalking it since 2007 and it’s def. getting to the phase out stage. Just about every store I called was willing to sell the sample…

After 2 years of waiting… I tried it on! MANY PICS!
Don’t pay attention to the parts where I essentially try and come up with a reason not to get it. lol – I could have saved a lot of heartache if I just got her then…

@KLP2010: There’s actually two sixes for sale on POWD…which is good, cause that’s how many I’d need to sew together to make one dress that fits me! According to their sizing charts, I’m about a size 14. Trying to lose some weight, but from what I’ve been told by others about stress during wedding planning, I’m not going to count on it.
Hearing about your ordeal means a lot to me. I tried on a Maggie Sottero that was beautiful, about $899, and made my best friend tear up. But I didn’t want to get it until I knew that the Justin wasn’t The One.
I feel better about that decision now.
When that boutique in Norman that I visited earlier told me about the other girl that ordered the dress, they said that she did it sight unseen as well. And they were all very nervous, especially when the italian lace got caught up in customs on the way to whatever country the dress was being made in….
What really struck me is that everyone who wants this dress, KNOWS that this is the dress they want. And it doesn’t seem like, with the exception of one excellent replica that I’ve seen, that they’ve been able to settle for less.
I think you made the right decision. I looked at the two pics of you, and while I do think you should jettison (or perhaps alter) the jacket, the dress itself looks STUNNING on you.

I just found this, I don’t know what size you are. I hope this works out for you. Please keep us posted! 🙂

Surely someone in Dallas carries it?

I know that it’s further than TX, but there’s a shop in Kansas City that carries his line too. It’s called Bridal Extrordinaire.

Hey I’m not US based, but I just want to say good luck finding your dress, and I hope its everything you dreamt off when you finally try it on 🙂

Here’s what I know and who got back to me. (just got to my desk and dug out the old post it notes 🙂 Honestly, others did too but I didn’t record that info once I purchased the dress last week… but, one store even asked if it was “still on the website” and pretty much every store was willing to sell it… so…. jump on her if you want her! She’s so timeless, she’ll never be out of style!
Bridal Images in MD – has a 12
Blush Bridal – VA outside DC – Has a 10
Etain Elite in GA has a 14 (This may be your best bet!)
Chers (KY) has an 8
MB Bride (?) – has a 10
Ventura’s Bridal – Houston, TX – has an 8
Right now, JA production is backed up and as of about 2 weeks ago, new dresses were avail. to ship in mid/late december… and they’re not accepting any rush orders. The dress is part of his “Signature” line, so you will need to find a store that carries that line of his (and ya, I totally called them all!) haha. Perhaps try talking to the closest signature store and see if you pay like $50 for shipping or something like that if they will order the dress for you so you can try it on first… if you don’t like it… they keep the sample… if you do, you get your dress! /otherwise, I say go to GA… I think they were willing to sell the sample so maybe you can also get a sweet deal on it in your size!
I would decide soon though, one store told me they had just sold the sample… And I just bought a sample…. so… Pounce quickly on that 14 🙂
Also, not sure about your height, etc… but here’s a “real” person wearing the dress that isn’t a 00 like the model on the JA website 🙂
Am I evil?
Also, Here’s her recap with more pics on PW

YES! Everyone I’ve seen in it and found online with it has said the same thing…. It’s really hard to find other 9552 brides, and I’ve only found 3… you would be 4… and technically… one is photos of a girl that one of the other brides found! haha, so I haven’t even located her…
(oh dear, that sounds like I’m stalking people too, lol… no… just the dress, trying to find pics of REAL brides in the dress!)
There is a girl on here who is also probably around a 14 who used the 9552 to base her dress off of. So, there’s always that option….
(But, I would stick to “inspired” and not replicate, I don’t think it will ever be the same 🙂
I will be altering the jacket… I’ve YET to see someone wear the jacket, but one girl did tell me her friend wore the jacket in a MAY wedding in FLORIDA! wow… I start to get overheated in my house wearing it!
This is my current thought for jacket alterations…..
I folded under the collar and pulled up the sleeves so it’s all kinds of not looking “right” lol It’s not connected in the back at all. I think this is more appropriate for my body (the portrait collar made my neck look short) and a mid fall church wedding. I’ll be ditching the jacket for the reception.

@EffieTrinket: I live near Etain in GA. I looked at dresses there–it’s a very nice place and seems very reputable. I will be happy to go in and take a look at their sample for you, take pictures, measurements, etc. Message me!

I wrote to Jay’s. Apparently the dress had disappeared because the site was being worked on. They sent me a link to the dress.
I used a coupon code for 15% off, and they threw in a fascinator for good measure.
That’s the non-scary news
The scary news is that I just bought my wedding dress, sight unseen, from a store 2,000 miles away, in a size smaller than I wear. On Friday the 13th. Did I mention we’re not even engaged yet?!
Oddly enough, I feel way less crazy than I feel like I should about all of this.
