Swimstuff :  I agree with the previous poster. Also, the certification should have a plot of inclusions. Does the dealer have a return policy if you are not satisfied with the diamond? To be honest, I’m surprised you are more concerned with clarity than color: a well cut diamond should be more forgiving to clarity, but an oval can sometimes show more color.

Swimstuff :  August vintage is totally reputable and I think have excellent pics and customer service. Ask them for pic and video and if it looks good, go for it!

Swimstuff :  You can ask them to view the certification. Also, if you post to Pricescope, the posters there may have a more discerning eye.

I have a 2 carat SI2 oval that is totally eye clean. So it is possible! I was told to watch for a plot with a lot of cloud inclusions, or SI2s with clouds as the grade setting inclusion, because this can sometimes affect light return in the stone.

Swimstuff :  Omgosh I just tried to edit my post and deleted the whole thing! WTH. Ok so in short, no I would NOT write off an SI2 🙂 If the jeweler is reputable (which he is) then I think it will be great!

My 0.7 oval is an si2 and it is perfectly eye clean! I think you can get away with si2 stones when they are under a carat.

Mine is 0.99ct SI2 – no black carbon spots what so ever but a couple of white feather like inclusions which I quite like because it makes my diamond unique

Swimstuff :  I know!!!! UGH.  I went in to edit something, double clicked the word I was going to change and was trying to act quickly and deleted the whole damn thing apparently, and let me tell you I put work into that post LOL. Last time I do that without my glasses on lol. I think what you are describing sound PERFECT and wonderful 🙂 I hope we get to see it when the masterpiece is done.
