My dad, SO, and I have all decided to chip in on a digital camera for my mom for Christmas. The only thing is I really don’t know what I’m looking for as far as the technical stuff. We’re hoping for something under the $150 range; my mom is very technologically…. unsavy? So it would really need to be a basic point-and-click type camera. Also, she’ll mostly be using it for birthdays and stuff, if that helps (mostly pictures of the grandkids). So, any tips to sort of point us in the right direction?

I just recently used the Nikon CoolPix, which is in your budget, and doesn’t seem to be too confusing, with just a few buttons. It also takes great pictures!

@elle_z: , @mypinkshoes: Thanks!! I’ll relay your suggestions to Daddy, since I have the feeling he’ll want to pick the camera out (he’s a little like me in that he can’t stand to let anyone else do something if he can!); they’re much appreciated!
