What other women think is so far down the list of criteria for judging an engagement ring that it’s almost cringe worthy to consider it at all.

This is one of the loveliest rings I’ve seen discussed here, and I don’t even LIKE oval cuts. There’s something charming and unique about this stone and its setting.

CHERISH IT!!!

Can’t go through life wondering what other people think of things you love. You will second guess all your decisions, never be satisfied and gradually lower your own self esteem. If you don’t like icy white stones then there is no reason why you should not love the ring he has given you. Wear it with joy and pride. You’re a lucky girl to own such a beauty. Congrats!

I think it’s beautiful!!! It looks different in the different lightings so I have no i idea if it looks “warm” really but I love it!

I think it is gorgeous! I would rock that baby without a second thought. It’s a personal decision but I like the color and wouldn’t exchange for a lower carat weight. Shrinkage is real!

I’d guess the color is I or J. Hard to tell the carat weight without seeing the diamond from the side. Given the photos, I’d guess 0.8 – 1.2 ct.

I think your diamond/ring is incredibly beautiful. I mean extremely beautiful. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. Spend some time on this site and view all the warm stones, there are people who LOVE warmer stones. Warmer stones (IN MY OPINION) can sometimes reflect deeper more vibrant colors. I am telling you your ring is beautiful. Do NOT worry about what other women think. I promise you no one will look at it, think to themselves it looks warm, and they certainly wont think it looks cheap. It looks anything but cheap. My guess would have been 2.0 carat and the color to me is just barely warm but in a good way.

Looks like a J color 1.50 You’re ring is nice! It seems like everyone likes it but the important question is do you like it? I think a white gold setting would probably help it make it appear a little more brighter …

coffeeaddict89 :  I would have guessed an I color. I think it is beautiful and I don’t think it is yellow at all. It looks super clear. The clarity looks like a really high grade. My guess on that would be a VVS2. I absolutely love your ring and I would never look at your ring and think it looks yellow.

Your ring is very beautiful and huge!  It looks so pretty on you….I was guessing your ring to be 1.5ct color I/J…Since FF and I have been looking around for my e-ring, we have done some research on ovals.  Because of the shape and its size, ovals will show its color more esp when you set it in a gold setting.  Your fiance did it right by getting an I color to set it in a rose gold setting.  It’d be a waste to get a higher color to only set it in rose or yellow gold, where the diamond will pick up the color of your setting.  If you want a whiter look of your diamond, you can set it in white gold or platinum as other bees have recommended.  Or you can go smaller diamond with high color, but set it in white gold or platinum setting.  Now, since you don’t care for a whiter diamond look, keep the color and the size, IMO.  It’s really your preference and happiness that matter.  Either way, your ring is beautiful! 🙂

coffeeaddict89 :  I was going to guess 1.7 and I color before I saw your answer!

My stone is an I color and a round cut, which “disguises” color better than fancy shapes. I see the yellow in my stone probably about half the time. But I love it. If YOU decide that YOU love the color, it’s a lot easier to decide not to waste any f*cks on what other people think.

If you love THAT stone, then stick with it. Oval cuts can vary a great deal from stone to stone. That’s a very pretty stone, you might have a hard time finding one as pretty in an H.

Here’s the way *I* think about it (and no offense to anyone with a colorless stone, this is my personal opinion): D-F stones will look the same in every lighting condition, which I find a little boring. An H/I/J stone will look white in most lighting, slightly yellow in others, and sometimes full on yellow. I love that my stone looks different at different times.
