Yes, you are too close to them, it will be freakishly loud! : (0 votes)
You should be able to hear them, but won't ruin the outdoor ceremony. : (6 votes)

I’m not very good with distances but I that that you will be able to hear them though not really loud.  I think they are pretty loud when you are close to them though.  Are you having the ceremony microphoned?  We did because there was a road that passed right behind our ceremony location (and a troupe of motorcycles drove through town the day of our ceremony) and no one had a problem hearing.

IM going to be completely honest here – I live in Long Beach where we do the Grand Prix every year and I can hear it from over a mile away.  HOWEVER, I think drag races are fairly less noisy than the Grand Prix is so you might be ok.  Can you talk to the venue and see if you can get an honest opinion on what they think and how loud it has been?

I would definitely look into getting a mic and/or sound system for your ceremony if it is outdoors though to make sure everyone can hear.  Do you know what time the race is in relation to your ceremony? Maybe it will be over by then…

I just was curious… is the location that the races will be held owned by the same company as the venue that you are using for the ceremony?  I’m actually a little confused about why you would expect your venue to disclose that there is a race going on over 1/2 mile away (unless it is part of the same place I guess).

I used to live 3 miles away from a place that did drag races, and we could hear them (quietly) at that distance.  I think you will be able to hear them, but I don’t think it should be a problem.  Even if they do seem loud (which I doubt they will) drag races are fairly short, so it won’t be like a constant noise.  I wouldn’t worry too much about it (this from the girl who is getting married 100 feet away from a set of active train tracks!)
