I am not tracking BBT because the one month I did, it drove me crazy!
I want to track other things (CM, other symptoms) but FF is not detecting O even though I’m conviced it was Sunday 16th November (sorry if Too Much Information: EWCM the days before, increased sex-drive, VERY wet all day, and it fit with FF’s predictions).
Do I have to track my temp in order to get cross-hairs on FF?

I don’t temp either! Even without temps, FF will give you a dotted red line on O day if you enter a +OPK.
If you didn’t use OPKs but know when you O’ed, you can enter it manually and FF will give you a solid blue line.
My Chart > Ovulation Detector > Tuning/Override
(Technically you can’t get crosshairs without temps because there’s no coverline. )

I don’t think you’ll get crosshairs without temping. FF would basically be making an eduated guess without having temperatures to go off of.

linnylou_88: Like PP said, you don’t get crosshairs but if you are doing OPK/ Monitor it will still give you the estimated O date. I don’t think it confirms O based on CM because CM can be a huge wild card. There are many, many people who get fertile CM before they O, not during.

I tracked O by CM and symptoms for a long time and thought for sure I was ovulating around CD15 each month. FF does not estimate O date based on those things, I would put a manual override on the day I thought I was ovulating. Then I started temping and learned that I was actually ovulating on CD13. I’m sorry you found it frustrating but that is the only way to get an exact ovulation date and crosshairs. Even OPKs can be tricky/misleading.

I’ve been tracking my cycles and CM the last few months. We’re more NTNP right now than TTC, so I don’t want to track my temps yet. FF won’t confirm O based on those things alone, but I do feel it does a better job predicting O than other apps I’ve used. I also like that it gives me more symptoms to track, like when I feel O pains. It does take those things into consideration when determining your fertile window for this month, but the next month it still predicts O based on the length of your cycle, not on your historical symptoms. So every month, FF predicts my fertile window a little bit later than I think it really is. I’m still liking it better than other apps though.

jny1179: Looks like I might have to suck it up next month and start temping! 🙁

Quick Q – do I have to temp throughout the whole month or can I miss the week of my AF etc?
