DH and I both wore jeans to our Rehearsal Dinner and instructed our atendees that jeans were perfectly acceptable. Our dinner was held at a nice Mexican restaurant. I personally think jeans are fine but I guess it depends on the formality of the event.

I would personally dress up. I see the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner as an extension of the wedding and a wedding of course is a formal dress up event. Maybe you can wear comfy clothes and find a rest stop on the way to freshen up and change when you get closer?

yes I agree. the Rehearsal Dinner and other wedding events are an extension of the wedding and should be treated as a special formal event. If a wedding is not a reason to dress up then what is?

@Over the Moon:
This. Jersey dresses are my uniform for car trips. I find them much more comfortable than jeans (or pants), and the fabric doesn’t wrinkle, so I always look presentable when I get out of the car.
Unless the restaurant is very casual (which I doubt), I wouldn’t wear jeans to a rehearsal dinner.

I love my jersey dresses on car trips – especially the long ones!
However, for my Rehearsal Dinner, I am requesting guests wear jeans. Due to unforseen logistics, the only time we can decorate the hall is after the rehearsal, so we are having a combo Rehearsal Dinner and decorating party. Full Chinese buffet first, and then quickly decorate and we’re done.

I think it depends on the bride. My rehearsal dinner was VERY casual and we all wore jeans. But I think many brides like to have a more formal feel to their rehearsal dinner sooo….

If you have to ask then you probably shouldn’t. It’s always better to be over dressed then under dressed of every occassion.

We went with business casual, thanks everyone! Will have to look into jersey dresses for my next trip, wish I’d thought of that earlier.

I would wear a dress, nothing too formal but still nicer than jeans.

Go pick up a cute jersey knit wrap dress from Banana Republic. They have some on sale right now. It’ll look better, be more comfortable, and is one of the most versatile pieces of clothing you can have in your wardrobe.

You don’t have to wear a dress just because you’re a gal. If you’re like and comfier in a T-Shirt and jeans, they have comfy yoga pants-like dress pants at New York and Company that you can wear with a dressy-like t-shirt and you’ll be fine. If he wears khakis with his polo, he’ll be fine.

Personally, I think you should dress up more.
