Where do I start?
Today was a pivotal point for our future engagement. I fell in love with THE ring. A beautiful circa 1910 antique ring complete with a mine-cut center diamond. Although I have heard this cut can be less valuable, it was stunning.
The Boyfriend or Best Friend had been mentioning the subject of ring shopping these last couple of weeks, but we’ve had busy schedules. Well, today we went to an antique show that his aunt has a booth at every year, and figured we could look for something neat for our mothers for mother’s day.(Yes we are LAST minute shoppers) After I found a beautiful vintage perfume bottle for my mom and a gorgeous blue Fenton vase for my grandmother, we ended up in the jewelry section. If memory serves me correct the Boyfriend or Best Friend was already looking at the antique engagement rings while I was browsing the costume jewelry. 😉
But, there we were looking at engagement rings without him walking away disinterested. He encouraged me to try many different styles on! Granted he has mentioned ring shopping, but this was the first time in real life. It felt like a dream 😀
Then I put THE ring on. As it sat on my finger, the more in love I fell. I took pictures too…mmhmm. I was thinking about my fellow bees…dorky I know.
The pictures do NOT do this ring justice, I definitely do not have a good cellphone camera. It’s such a beauty in the sun! It was sparkling like crazy. 😀 I love the marquise diamonds on the side along with the other embedded ones.
What do you think?

Love it! And so exciting 🙂 I loved ring shopping with FH before we got engaged. We had been talking about it for months so there was no way the proposal was going to be a complete surprise and in hindsight FH is relieved we did go shopping together because we found something unique that neither of us would have gravitated towards had we just looked at it in the window or something 🙂 That ring is GORGEOUS and how special that it’s an antique too 🙂

Wow that is really unique! I like it! Did he buy it?

It’s a stunning ring! It is so exciting to have a boy be interested in what you actually like in rings… and in my experience the proposal was not far off. 😉

I LOVE it. You must now buy it so that you can take a hundred photos and post them ALL!
I love, love the details and it looks like it has real sparkle. Plus, old miners cuts (OMCs) are coming back into fashion (just have a look on the “Show me the bling!” subforum on Pricescope.com and you’ll see heaps of diamond lovers are buying OMCs.

@goingtotherooftopoflove: Exactly! Is it fate? I think so..
@SweetieP: No he didn’t buy it, in fact he kept asking me if I was SURE that was the one and kept pointing at other styles of rings. Then last night after I made this post he mentioned what if he had already bought another ring instead…um..awkward silence. Lol. We’ll see I guess 😀
@GoldStar: I was on cloud nine! I couldn’t stop smiling…and let’s hope it isn’t!
@Everdeen: I wish! He seemed hesitant…which is my fault. I’ve been showing him cushion cut halos as what I want in a ring, and this is totally different. I can’t stop thinking about it…looking at the pictures I took. I have the woman’s card with all the information on it. I’ll bug him about it for the next couple days. It’s a one of a kind so I hope he does get it soon in case someone else falls in love with it 🙁
