@nikix:

I didn’t like the original sash on my David’s Bridal dress. I took it to a seamstress and she removed the beading and replaced the sash for me with another one and replaced the beading. Didn’t cost much at all, either.

Oh no!!!! How about you google the french translation to what you want to say and then write them a note? Wait, they wouldn’t be able to respond.

Do you know someone who speaks french well enough to accompany you?

If you have an iphone there’s a really good translation app available for it! My SO’s parents used it when they were traveling in Spain a few months back. You can say something in English and the translation will come up in whichever language you want, and then the other person can talk to the phone in their language and it will write out an English translation for you. Neither my SO nor I can remember the name of the app right now… But that might be helpful to you in general in your situation!

As for finding a black horsehair sash, try Etsy? You could also try looking at high-end fabric stores or milinery supply store for black horsehair braid and then make your own bow out of it/ have a seamstress make one.

You could also give any vendor the address of a mail forwarder (once you have opened an account) and they will receive the item for you and then forward it overseas to you.
