I think it’s cute! If you love it, and it’s a way to save money, go for it! I wish I could do my own hair. It would be really pretty with flowers or some sort of broach.

@malmal: I like the style, but I think you need to clean it up quite a bit to look more polished.  Maybe keep practicing.  But I do think the style of it is cute.  Either plain or maybe with flowers (would need to see it to know for sure) would be my preference.

You are still 100% more talented at doing hair then I am.  I can barely do a ponytail.

I really love the way it looks in the first picture. It is really beautiful and simplistic. I don’t care for the broach in the last picture…It looks a bit old and less fresh.

Yes, do it!  I didn’t hire a pro to do my hair, either, I just did a blow out, curls, and wore a feathered clip pinned in.  If you know you can do this style, just practice, and take pictures to see how it looks from all sides.  I like the idea of putting flowers in this style.  I think it’d look really elegant with or without a veil.

Make sure you practice it alot before you do it for your wedding day. I am a hair stylist, but Im not doing my own hair on my big day. If you want, make a hair appointment at your local hair salon as a just in case thing!!

@Lucille_628: agreed. I think the brooch takes away from the elegance of:the look

Is this some sort of Gibson twist? I’m planning on doing my own hair something like what you’ve done and I totally think it’s possible. I think it would look best with flowers, but whatever you pick will work.

It depends what your dress looks like between flowers and a broach, but I love simple elegant styles, and if you can do it yourself then go for it!

Thanks for the link, i’ve bookmarked it. I’ve tried the basic idea a few times, and just need to polish it a little. I did get some strange looks from my Future Mother-In-Law when I mentioned this though.

I think it’s very simple and I love it with the brooch, are you doing anything in the front with bangs or side pieces? I would love to see the “whole look”!

love it! i’m hoping to DIY my hair and makeup with the help of my mom as much as possible. seems like a terrible waste of money to me since I’m low-key with my beauty regimen (and will be paying for it myself should i choose to have it done)
