Are you putting them inside the bag or as the last picture?

I am also wondering if it is going inside or out?

Is that really a book marker? I cant really tell whats inside the bag in the first pictures..It seems to be some type of ticket style save the date?

You absolutely can do it as a DIY project, no one will be bothered if you change the size, although am not too clear which is which in the pictures.

@mwitter80: lol i second that

if the insert comes with the bags that you have already purchased, why not just use those?  the difference between 3in and 2in is pretty big actually, especially when it determines if the bag is going to fit cleanly over the insert or look loose and unfinished.  plus, you’ll have to create folds in the bookmarks which will greatly increase the chances of a sloppy finished product, whereas the inserts probably have pre-scored folding lines for a clean finish.

This is probably one project that shouldn’t be a DIY.  It may be worth just spending the few extra dollars…

@futuremrsdq: I think you could play with this and get it to work but I do think that the 2″ is going to be too small.  Don’t give up yet!

The other difference I see in the purple inspiration picture and yours is that they did not gather the top of the bag to tie the ribbon around.  They achieved that clean look by probably punching two holes in the top and threading the bow through that.

I don’t know if that would possible for you since your insert is so much thinner than what they did.

No ribbon, it hides the cute design too much!
