Over a year ago I bought a formal dress online to wear to SO’s formal business dinner. I have decided I am just going to wear this dress to my SO’s brothers wedding because I am on a tight budget right now.
I was looking on facebook yesterday and I noticed my SO’s brothers fiancee has the EXACT same dress that she just wore to a wedding over the weekend and posted pictures of it. I found it such a strange coincidence because it is a pretty unique looking dress: It is a black satin halter top dress with red and white floral design. For some reason I feel awkward wearing it to her wedding even though she will be in a wedding dress. I don’t want her to think I copied her or something, even though for all I know I got the dress before she did.
Do you think it matters at all or am I just worrying about nothing?

Accessorize it completely differently from the way she did and you should be good to go!

I bet she’ll LOVE it! I always get super excited when I see someone wearing the same thing as me!

@Stranger516: Unless you got the dress custom made, then it’s really not a huge coincidence. If you’re really concerned about what she might think, comment on one of the fb pics of her in the dress something like “wow, weird coincidence, but that’s the exact dress I got to wear for your wedding. Guess we both have great taste!”

@drummerbride: +1– that is a great way of handling it.

She will probably be so wrapped up in other stuff that she wont even notice. And if she does at least you know she likes your dress and thinks it is appropriate for a wedding.
