I have 3 nieces (sisters) that I am super excited to have as part of my wedding. Their ages at the time of our wedding will be 4, 6 and 9. We don’t have any little boys in our life that we are close to so what I was thinking of doing is having the 4 year old be my flower girl, the 9 year old a junior bridesmaid and the 6 year old be the ring bearer (although I would call her the “ring girl” or something like that). Do you think that is appropriate? I have never seen a girl ring bearer before so I don’t know how it will go over. I also think its cute because they are all sisters that they will each have a different role in my wedding (I am their only aunt – its just me and my sister who is my Matron of Honor – and her husband is an only child). So what do you think?

Why not? I think Mrs Star had her sister be the ring bearer! It’s not a gender specific title 🙂

Absolutely. There’s nothing stating anywhere that the ringbearer can only be a boy.

Very cute!!! I think “ringbearer” sounds appropriate. It doesn’t indicate gender.

I think that would be so cute. I was just looking at pics from a former schoolmates wedding, and she had a “flower boy” who dropped feathers instead of petals!

I think that would be awesome!!! I think the only restrictions in regards to gender are the ones you set yourself. One of my fiance’s “grooms men” is one of his long time female friends. She’s going to wear the groom’s color. 🙂
I think have whoever in the party that’ll make the day feel special. And it sounds like having your niece being the ring bearer would be really sweet.

if you could have a DOG ring bearer, then you could most certainly have a girl ring bearer!

I think it would be very sweet to have one of your nieces as the ring bearer. I have seen weddings where there is no ring bearer and the maid of honor just tied the rings to her wrist with a ribbon. And, as dovelovesfalcon mentioned, even dogs have acted as ringbearers. No reason a little girl couldn’t do it.

Absolutely. Much of what some consider essential gender roles divides are complete junk, and there’s perhaps no better example than a small pre-pubescent child. They’re pretty much the same when they’re that young no matter how you slice it. Have a ring girl!

My fi’s little sister is being my ring bearer!
