@cantonbride:  I only had about 40 people at my catholic church wedding. It’s doable but try to find a smaller church so it doesn’t look so empty.

You can absolutely do this and honestly I do not feel it matters how big the church is. You are receiving a sacrament, and God doesn’t care if you decorated enough. The church is not just a “venue”. If you belong to a parish and want to have your church there, by all means you should do so.

I am not having flowers at the church. Personally I feel that it is unecessary and doesn’t need adornment.  I am having flowers at my reception, but that is ultimately just a party 🙂

My dearest BFF did it!!! They had about 36 guests at their wedding, got married in a Catholic church, the ceremony was beautiful. And we celebrated until 5am the next morning. It was the BEST wedding I’ve EVER been to!!! They got married in August, the church had some flowers, but nothing extravagant, but we weren’t there for extravagance

. That was what I LOVED about their wedding, there was no extravagance like that. It was all about their close family & close friends being together to celebrate their marraige.

It was just about those who loved them. coming together, and having an amazing weekend together.

You can totally do it!!! My BFF has a large family with cousins and aunts & uncles etc, but she and her Hub just pared it down to their parents, siblings, and some closest friends and family members.

Absolutely you can! Some churches even have side chapels used for daily Masses during the week that are a nicer size for small weddings.

Girl, for SURE. We’re having a larger wedding than you, but beyond an aisle runner I don’t know that we’ll do much church decoration at all!

@cantonbride:  I don’t think I’d split the cost 50/50 if the other bride chose the decorations, and the flowers had already been out at room temp. for the entire morning/afternoon. :}

I am having 40 – 50 people at my wedding in the Catholic Church.  We are getting married in the chapel vs. the big church.  And the fee for the chapel INCLUDES the flowers and the organist.  In fact, they discourage the bride from spending anything additional on flowers.

I am only having 2 bridesmaids…which is plenty for me.   My wedding themes are simple, sophisticated and elegant…so yes… can be done in the Catholic Church and done fabulously.  Look for a chapel vs. a big church.  Also, my (consignment) gown has a chapel length train.

God will bless your desires.
