You don’t have to give anyone that title, but logistically, you will still have some choices to make between them – i.e. who stands closest to you at the ceremony and holds your bouquet.

Yes, I have 6 BMs and no Maid/Matron of Honor. I’ll probably split the Maid/Matron of Honor duties between them so no one becomes the unsaid Maid/Matron of Honor.

joy2011: I’ve never heard of the Maid/Matron of Honor signing the marriage license…?

I didn’t have a Maid/Matron of Honor.  I agree with sailor though, it does mean you have to pick who stands directly next to you, and holds the bouquet.  But all my girls understood that I didn’t have a Maid/Matron of Honor and no one minded that I had to choose one to stand closest to me.

I had 4 BM’s and NO Maid/Matron of Honor. It worked out fine. My cousin stood next to me & signed the marriage license. It was fine.

I’m having 4 Bridesmaids and no Maid/Matron of Honor. I don’t have any sisters, and didn’t want to pick favorites or cause any drama by picking one friend over another. Although, in the end it did cause drama because one thought that she should have been the Maid/Matron of Honor, but whatever.

And I kind of agree with @HappilyEverAfter54, I’m not attached to any of them signing our marriage license. I’d actually prefer my mom do that. (But, I don’t even know if that’s allowed…?)
