My Fiance and I are tossing around the idea of postponing the wedding until August. My original colors for the wedding are a deep purple and a light blue with cream and silver accents. If we do move the wedding to August do you think these colors scream spring a little too much? I’m not sure of what colors I would even pick with a late summer wedding!

Not at all. Plum and light blue aren’t really season specific at all. Keep your colors.

@FloretteLiz: I think it’s fine. I think the colors actually work better in August.

I think those colors are fine. They dont scream spring to me at all. Beautiful color choices though, I love deep purple!!

I am getting married in August and my colours are eggplant, light blue with a touch of silver and green! In my biased opinion I would say keep them! 🙂

Thanks ladies! I have one more quetion for you all! I already have my favors and I don’t know if they would still be appropriate. We wanted to do a general spring theme with birds and butterflies in thrown in. So I bought these cuties on clearance and was planning on dressing them up with little nests and favor tags:

If these would seem out of place I’m sure I could find spots for some of them in my home and gift others. There are over 80 of them so burning them all would take forever. I love candles though so at least I would have a pretty darn good supply for a little while.

I’m a huge proponent of “the colors have nothing to do with the season”. If you want to do red and green in the middle of summer or orange and yellow in the middle of December, go for it!!!
I’m actually using orange and purple for my 10/1/11 wedding, and I swear, if one more person says, “oh! a fall themed wedding!” I’m going to punch them in the face. It’s not fall themed because orange is one of my colors. It’s not anything themed. I just like orange and purple. (end rant)

@LMD84: Darn I just ruined that! My Fiance is like that. He says his favorite time of day is 12:34 because of it. I’ll have to tell him this later. I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of it!
@linz09: Well that makes me really happy. : ) I wasn’t looking forward to revamping my wedding for a second time!

@FutureMrsBPB: Lol I love that. I think I’m just super detail oriented (or paranoid for no good reason).

The deep purple is a great color, I think it totally works for August and if you keep the light blue to a minimum, it will be perfect for that time of year! The birds in multi colored pastels might be more of a spring thing but if you drop the green one, I think it will be less season specific.. especially since everyone uses birds all the time, any time of year. 🙂

Lol my Fiance just said that our wedding theme is called “awesome” and therefore does not need a specific color or favor to go along with it.

I’m doing a deep purple, actually eggplant for my wedding in two weeks. It’s funny because I thought people might not think it fit for a fall wedding but I was in craft stores this weekend and was amazed how many deep purple silk flowers they showed in the fall displays.

@FutureMrsBPB:
i agree i’m having red & black in winter and these are usually seen as a winter’themed’colours but my original wedding date was in june and i was having red and black then too, i had to move mine for personal reasons, but my colours remain with me.
i say just have what you want what ever time of the year you want, break the colour tradition mould ladies
