I went to Michael’s today and purchased two large glass vases for ceremony decor. Well the girl didn’t wrap them at all, just put them in a plastic bag for me to carry home. One of the vases must have had an initial small crack in it already because as soon as I looked at it in the backseat when I got home (literally like a 3 minute drive on paved roads) there was a spread of big cracks along it. It was $22 so I really want to take it back but I’m worried they’ll try to blame it on me even though I absolutely didn’t bang it into anything :/ Will they accept it as a return?

PS. the vases were in two separate plastic bags, so they definitely didn’t clank together in the backseat or anything

yes, do you think those 16 year old cashiers really care what gets returned? Most stores will return anything, just tell them it must have been damaged when you bought it, you didn’t notice it, and it wasn’t packaged well. They won’t care.

I think as long as you are doing an exchange, they should be fine with it. Just explain it to them like you explained it to us, and you should be fine.

Yep, I worked as a cashier, and if an item was damaged and the customer had a receipt we were supposed to automatically take it back within 30 days, unless it was very obviously the customer’s fault (i.e., they wore shoes into a river and wanted new ones.)

Awesome! I’ll attempt tomorrow. I just hope I didn’t waste $22. I wanted to just go ahead and return all of the stuff I bought though because it turns out they won’t work for the ceremony, but if they just want to give me even in store credit for the cracked one I’d be down with that anyway. I can always scrounge up something at Michael’s lol

You can also point out the fact that it wasn’t wrapped in tissue paper for you.

Totally must be returned.. Its the stores fault for not having strong enough items not yours.. 🙂
