Isn’t a J considered “near colorless” on the scale?

@Heartly:  That’s the jewelry store I go to! They are very good there and their prices are really reasonable. My fiance ended up getting an amazing deal on my diamond because he took it off of a ring that was at the store so he got it for the price that they originally bought it at, not the price that it might be worth now.

@FoxyBride14:  Yes, but it’s still the lowest on the near colorless.

Mmmm… love the warmer tones so much, especially claireos’s. Some of these J’s and K’s look so white! πŸ™‚ Love them all.

@Heartly:  Yes, I am talking about Good Old Gold. I get ALL of my jewelry from there. The great thing about that store is that they don’t work on comission, so they are never pushy with you or anything. I saw a pair of earrings that I loved there the other day and I so want to go back and buy them.

Mine’s a K, I can never see the yellow.  Only time I did was when the appriaser put it in the ultraviolet light thing.

I’m bumping this because I just had my diamond from my e-ring put into a pendant and had it re-appraised.  I always thought it was an H color, but it turns out it’s actually a K color.  I love the warmth in it!

Here it is in the setting I couldn’t keep πŸ™  The side diamonds are H color.  You can see the slight difference in color.

I want to re-ignite this thread! Mine’s a J, 1.21 ct, vs1.  It faces up really white. It’s so hard to capture what it looks like in person in a picture though. Here are 2 different lighting situations. The top one is indoors during the daytime, windows closed but only natural light.  The second is outside in the car (indirect sunlight maybe?)

Wow, I really had no clue about the diamond color scale until this post.  Thanks for the insight, bees!  SO hasn’t given me my ring yet (any day now, though!  I’m getting anxious haha) but the one I reallllly like is H-I.  Honestly, I don’t care too much about that though… I just showed him what I liked in our price range and let him do the rest.  I’ll post a pic when I get it πŸ™‚

This is a 1.03 RB with sapphire sidestones in white gold.  It’s not GIA but the jeweler graded it J.  This isn’t my e-ring, it was a RHR.  We are using the stone for my e-ring tho.  FI is working with a jeweler on the design πŸ™‚

I intentionally chose a warmer colored stone. In fact I was 100% set on it! I felt it gave my ring a unique almost antique look! My fiance wanted to “spoil” me and get me “perfect” everything and I was loving that idea, but dead set on the warmest or darkest stone we could find. I even considered a canary, but I knew that I wanted an oval and apparently it’s difficult to get a fancy colored stone with an elongated cut- it won’t be consistent and it will look spotty. So, I ended up with my 2.4 ct L colored oval diamond. I’m planning on getting a yellow gold or rose gold wedding band to play up the color of my center stone because I just think it is such a gorgeous warm champagne/light yellow and I want it to stand out even more!!! My setting is Henri Daussi and has a classic, delicate, and antique feel. I’m just over the moon πŸ™‚
