@MrsRichard:  I love gel polish. My nails are also super strong, so I don’t necessarily need the extra strength. However, I really love the the lasting glossy finish and the chip resistance. i’m hard on nails and it usually last from 10-17 days. I have plenty of pics but I will have to find them.

I started getting manicures in the salon and I love it so much I finally bought a gel polish kit (Sensationail from Walmart) and I do my own nails at home.

ETA: oops I just read you said gel nails. I don’t do gel nails (very similar to acrylic) i’m talking about gel polish

I don’t have a picture, but DO IT!!! I got gel done for my engagement pictures, and will definitely be doing it again for the wedding. They dried in less than a minute. I kept the manicure for three weeks without a SINGLE chip. This included going camping, working out, and generally being really clutzy. The only reason I removed the gel was because my nail beds were growing out too much. The process of taking them off is more laborious than regular polish, but there was no damage to the nails afterward. You basically just soak your nails in remover, and use an emory board as sandpaper to sand the gel off (it sounds bad, but there was no damage to my nails).

Bottom line: this stuff is MAGIC.

Edit: Oh, I’m talking about the gel polish too (haven’t heard of gel nails)

I got gel for the wedding and lOOOOVED it.  I got it done 3 days before and they lasted for a week after.  I didn’t have to worry about them chipping and they looked even more natural (to me) than acrylic. I actually got a lot of compliments on them…which is weird to me, I’m not the type of person to notice peoples  nails, so I was surprised people said something about them. lol. These arn’t the best pictures since it’s not mean to be a pic of my nails, but it gives you an idea…

It’s kind of hard to tell, but they’re blue–gel nail polish. But hopefully you can get a good idea of how shiny they are and how perfect they make your nails look. My natural nails are  really thin and uneven.

Mine are shorter than I would like because I am a nurse, but in my opinion gel nails are the only way to go! Lasts longer and doesn’t chip. Here are mine currently, a little grown out  (with my ring, sorry only pic available right now).

@MrsRichard:  I dont have any photos but I hated the gel.  I got it for my wedding.  I always had great nails and this just ruined it.  They got weaker.  Several nails broke easily during the wedding week then one even chipped.  Not too mention when I went to take them off (at the salon), I had to trim them short because of how weak they became.  Just like acryllic.  I had them on somewhere around 10-15 days.  If I would do it over I would just go buy $8 press ons.

@MASPA:  wow, that’s awful!

ive been doing gel nails for 10 months and have NEVER had any problems at all! If anything, it seems to make my nails stronger, which is why I like it for work.

@MrsRichard:  yes they looked fine.  but I got them done about 5 days before my DW (2 days before I flew out) and by the time the wedding came around about 3 nails or ruined, but I have no nail photos so it wasnt a huge deal. just annoying

@MrsRichard:  Oh good! I think you may really like them. The main reason why I like them so much is, you can go 2 weeks without any chipping or polish changes!! Second reason: it’s my real nails. Here’s another pic! 🙂

 *Edit* Sorry, my ring photobombed this pic. 😀
