@HonoraryNerd:  Here is ours!

We actually had an early RSVP requested with our postcards, so if they chose to mail back the filled-in postcard, we needed to have something else for them to keep. So, we also had a magnet on the back–just a business card sized one.. I know it shows up huge here!

Unconventional, but it worked really well for us!

Edited to add: I did these myself in Adobe InDesign. Great program for layout–easier than Illustrator!)

@HonoraryNerd:  We did our postcard style and ordered them from vista print for dirt cheap!

Here is the front:

And on the back it was this photo, and underneath it said “Formal invitation to follow..”

@HonoraryNerd:  My FI’s family is HUGE and the largest venue within our budget and needs we could find near my home in New England was for 200. My parents had tons of guests they wanted to invite, too (and they’re helping pay). However, almost everyone on our A list would be from out of town! If we waited to invite them until 2 months out, and then heard back that they weren’t coming, and then sent another round of invites out to our B list, our B list people wouldn’t have enough time to make travel arrangements (some are international, and flights and hotels are few and far between!). Add to all this confusion is the fact that FI’s sister is getting married the month before us (she was planning on getting married earlier and had to push it back bc of their venue). So we knew some people would have to make decisions about if they could or couldn’t attend both, etc. So complicated!

I heard of this idea from my cousin, who said it worked really well for her. And it worked great for us, too! We will still be sending formal invites at the normal time (with a lot more details about the wedding), but asking people to let us know as soon as they could if they couldn’t make it has helped SO much. We are being flexible with people who just don’t know yet, but there have been quite a few who already knew (6 months out) that they couldn’t make it to ours, and therefore immediately allowed us to include more of our B list. Our B list even had relatives! Not even counting friends. So we are really glad we’ve been able to add those people (and with enough time that they didn’t even realize they were B list). We just could not go over our 200 seat limit, so I was very nervous! There have been one or two confused people but as soon as we explain it to them, they “get” it.

This is what the back of our STD looked like (the magnet covered the middle left section).

Lilxaatheaa:  Hey! I designed them myself in InDesign and then we printed both the postcard (oversized) and the magnet on VistaPrint. Let me know if you need more info!
