@nerdysarah:  I did my DIY invites through Vistaprint as I had previously ordered my business cards and been happy.

Mine were not a template – I download the picture from stock photos and had the plainn card printed. So that was all that was printed through vistaprint. The quality of the colour, card and print was great, a few needed tidying up around the edges (as the card underneath is white) with a black sharpie.

I then added the metallic paper, textural card with the details on it (i printed this at home) and then added the coin embellishments.

I refused to pay $100’s of dollars just for invites and was really happy with the final results!

We did DIY invites for our formal invites, but these were for the wedding in WA & the reception at home.

@nerdysarah:  With vistaprint you have to make you file size four times larger than the print size..I also use powerpoint so I can move things around easier

@hisbahamamama:  I’m on the computer illiterate side, but what do you mean the file size four times larger than the print size?

I ordered mine yesterday…cannot wait for them to come in. EVERYONE throws out invites and I was hellbent on not spending more than $100. There was a weekend sale so I got 500 invites for the amazing price of $45 (with shipping…sooo $30)

I also got my bridal shower invites from them….I reallly love how everything turned out with those.

In order for your invites to look crisp you need the resolution of all of your photos and artwork to be at 300 DPI. You don’t need the file size to be 4 times bigger if the resolution is correct.

@As_You_Wish:  Another stupid question, but how do I found out if my PDF file is 300 DPI? I had an etsy seller create it.

@BetterSherm:  That’s not a stupid question! If it came from an Etsy seller, I’d almost guarantee it’s high res. file. Did they tell you it was print-ready and/or can you send them a message to ask? I usually check the resolution by opening the file in Photoshop but you could also print out a copy at home just to see what it looks like and/or look at the file size. If there are photos in your invitation and the file size is 100kb then it’s not high resolution.

@confettiegg2000  Thank you for posting a photo!  I was looking at doing the same design for my wedding invitations and yours look beautiful!!  If you don’t mind me asking, which paper stock did you choose for your invitations?  I’m having a time deciding on that part.  Thanks!!!
