Hey hive, I was/am planning on sending my save the dates out in December, but then I read somewhere that you should not send your Save-The-Date Cards out in the month of December because they will get lost with all the holiday cards. Should I wait until January to send them out? I am having a destination wedding in Mexico and I want to give my guests as much notice as possible, but I don’t want our save the dates to get swept up into the holiday chaos. Thoughts?

Hey! Last year I sent out our Save-The-Date Cards with our holiday cards! It was also nice to have everything out all at once and we saved on postage. It worked out great! Here’s some pictures of my Save-The-Date Cards.
P.S. We used clear photo corners to mount the Save-The-Date Cards to the top flap of the STD.

I’d say waiting until January would be fine since you aren’t getting married until October. But if you really want to get them out, I wouldn’t think twice about getting a STD along with all the other holiday cards in December. Do whatever you want.

i would wait until january. even if they don’t get lost in the mail in december, they might get lost in your guests’ houses with all of their holiday stuff! i would wait until things settle down a little for everyone.

I personally LOVE getting mail in December and nothing is ever lost among holiday mail. If anything, I am careful about opening things and would love to receive a STD during that time. You could also mix STD’s with your holiday cards, if you wish – IMO.

I’d wait until January. The end of the year is crazy busy for some people and your STD may get pushed to the back burner. Your wedding is in October. Unless you have a lot of out of town guests, then sending them out that soon is kind of pointless.

I think it would be really smart to send them out with the holiday cards like the PP suggested, save on postage and I’m sure people will never forget your christmas card!

I would send them in early December, ahead of Chrsitams cards. I have worked for several employers who required that the annual vacation for next year be finalized in December.
If your guests will need to book vacation they will appreciate the advance notice.

I like the idea of sending it with our holiday cards. I hadn’t thought of that before! My only hesitation is that I have picked out super cute, non holiday envelopes to go with the Save-The-Date Cards and I’m really excited to use them.
@Miss Tattoo – our wedding is in Mexico so every single person is an out of town guest, so I want them to have as much notice as possible 🙂

@jaylii9:It’s super cute how you included the Save-The-Date Cards in the cards!

@IlsaLund: Thanks! People liked receiving them in the mail with the STD. I mounted them that way so people would see it right as they opened the card. 🙂
