Hi bees, I’m new and newly engaged. My Fiance gave me a stunning ruby and I’m just dying to show her off. One problem – I can’t seem to capture the colour in photos. Every picture comes out pink, while really it is very vivid red. Any advice from fellow ruby owners?
Here are some “pink” ones anyway.

Yikes, huge photos, sorry about that.

Congratulations and welcome 🙂 Beautiful ring! Love rubies but I am biased since I have one also. I find that it changes color in different lightings, from a pinkish red in direct sun to a more blood red in indoor lighting and so on. Avoid using a flash when you take a picture, maybe go outside on a sunny day and take a pic in the shade, that’s when mine is the most red.

First off… GORGOEUS!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for tips: Take some photos outside on a clear sunny day. Take some in the shade & some in the sun for different color effects. Use Macro on your camera if you have it. Good luck! 🙂

I don’t think you need to ask if you can show off your ring in the topic; most bees here love to oogle at rings.

Thanks for the kind words. And also very much for the photo tips. Now all I have to do is wait for a sunny day. *looks out the window at rain clouds*

@Tibbs: Just beautiful – congratulations! Your diamond band really makes the stone pop. I just got a ruby RHR this weekend and it’s pretty amazing in the sun. Now I am looking at matching nail polish…
