I hope these correspondences from the photographer are in email, save everything he sends you in writing and on voicemail, hell when he calls you advise him as soon as you pick up that the phone call is being recorded so you can legally record the conversation, if he doesn’t agree he can hang up. You have a case because you can prove huge time gaps etc.

However getting a refund will never get this day back so its a loss no matter what.

Have a vow renewal and recreate these shots if you can girl, so sorry your going through this.

demanding us to sign an agreement to not talk about our bad experience or he will not give us anythign else we contracted for

@Firefly_Va:  I think that alone is enough of a reason to sue him.

Did you see a portfolio of his work before you hired him?  If it looked good, I wonder if it was actually someone else’s work.

@Firefly_Va:  My guess is he’s not a very skilled photographer and couldn’t even show you those shots becasue they were so bad.  Even the really good ones will cull the photos that don’t turn out.

@strawbabies:  Agree…you can’t sue for pictures that you just don’t like, but the fact that he didn’t give you the service you agreed on AND he’s threatening you is so unprofessional. I don’t know the laws, but I would HOPE that you could sue..

Oh wow you poor thing! If the terrible photos weren’t enough reason to sue him then his threats certainly should be. I wish I could be more helpful but I am not a lawyer – hopefully someone who is will see this post. Best of luck!!

@Firefly_Va:  The fact that he lawyered up so quickly and told you that if you wanted a refund you’d have to sue him just demonstrates that he knows he did a bad job! Take him to small claims court!

@Firefly_Va:  As long as he’s not delivering what was explicitly stated in the contract, you can sue him.  You paid the contract price, so he owes you everything that was in it.

I’d quit posting reviews on his work because he may be able to find a way to use those against you.  And consult a lawyer!

I don’t know how effective publicly shaming him on the news is going to be.

I wouldn’t want to think of a big public scandal every time you reminisce about your wedding in the future. Not having pictures is bad enough, but I would try to settle it discreetly in court.
