I thought that we can wear whatever we want in our wedding!! but sometimes it’s not …
My fiance and I will be getting hitched on January 2016,we having a small wedding indoors…I tried many dresses but I the one I loved was with some black beaded lace but my mother seems to be against…for her dark colors are not accepted…Iam hoping your opinion will help me to take my decision
Here is the photo of the dress
I found another photo on a model
Thank you in advance

you can wear whatever you want. Convincing your mother is another story entirely.

Your day, your way. Your mother already had her day, I’m sure her heart is in the right place though

You can wear it!
My mother is super conservative and I wore a black and white dress on my wedding day. In the end she admitted it was gorgeous and suited me perfectly.

carol80: gorgeous!!! Yes yes yes wear it 🙂

It’s nice.. but not very bridal.. you can have champagne or grey lace to give some sort of contrast.. but black is a bit on the extreme end for a wedding dress in my opinion.

You can wear whatever you want, it’s your day, your way. However, I can see why your mother doesn’t like this dress, it looks like the dress has giant ink splotches (like for the psychiatric test). You might regret this one later in life. There are more elegant dresses with black details on the market. But hey, you do whatever pleases you in the end.

you are definitely entitled to wear whatever you want for your wedding. Just make sure that in 10 years you will love the pictures of you in your dress. If you love it, go for it. But it doesn’t hurt to look around and see if there are other dresses that suit your look and style?

Wear whatever you like! My mum actually didn’t want me to wear a white dress (neither did she, so that figures)l
You can even wear a black and white dress and do pole dancing, like this Bee:
Pole fitness in my dress (pic heavy!)

carol80: Provided you’re the bride you can wear whatever you like!

carol80: It’s a dress and its your wedding thus it can be a wedding dress. If you do everything your mother wants it will be her wedding not yours.

carol80: Tell your monther that in some cultures white is what you wear to funerals.

carol80: of cos you can, but whether you want to despite your mother’s opinions is another matter… show her some vera wang dresses (all black!) and try to convince her. If u r close to your mum it maybe impt to consider her feelings too at the end of the day
